"Directx Sucks"
Version: Microsoft DirectX Runtime Web Installer (June 2010) 8.1
Summary
Playing the new Indiana Jones game.
Terrible job, graphics still look clunky (Inherent in Directx), reaction times are slow, and game pad plays below average.
OPengl still plays better than Directx by far. Why does anyone write games in this stuff.
I played the previous Indy game too, I was hoping for some improvement.
This new one requires 128mb of ram.
If you thinks it's my system...
P4 1.6 ghz
Nvidia TI 4200
256 mb ram.
This game should should definitely play better than it does. -

"what are you talking about"
Version: Microsoft DirectX Runtime Web Installer (June 2010) 8.1
Summary
if anything it's your video drivers that say it can't put out d3d or openGL, upgrade your drivers you ediot, this works awesome for me, and with XP pro, If anything you guys no nothing, directx 8.1 is so commonly used today in games, so it's your computer thats messed up, not the driver.....your card has to be able to support 32 bps in games for this to take affect, because thats what it's for.

I unshared hard drives first, but it didn't work until I went into netmeeting and did what Garret said. and then it worked imediately. No reboot or any thing. This is what I did. "Problems w/GeForce Ti-4200 in PCI mode"
Version: Microsoft DirectX Runtime Web Installer (June 2010) 8.1
Summary
I've read all the other posts on here, and it looks like I'm having the same problem as most are: I'm getting the error "Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)" when I try to run the Direct3D test in DXDIAG.
I'm running DirectX 8.1b w/Win2K Server.
I noticed that under "Settings....Advanced" in my Display Properties, my vid card is running in PCI mode, not AGP mode. I suspect this is causing most of the problems.
Does anyone know how to get the card to run in AGP mode? I've installed the latest drivers for my mobo and the card, as well as flashing the BIOS on both.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason
