"Nice but still lacking"
Version: Microsoft DirectX Runtime Web Installer (June 2010) 8.1
Summary
As a programmer I still cannot believe that they have kept the horrid DirectMedia. I have a GeForce II and I have no problems like everyone else here is talking about. Most likely their problems are due to drivers but I also use the newest nVidia Detonator XP drivers. I have no problems and I run Black and White at a solid 60 frames per second! But I still am watching out for when DirectX 9 comes out and it has DirectDraw back in it. But until then I will continue to program with DirectX 7.

The Direct X series from 8.0 onwards does not work with any gForce cards, unless you have the gForce 3. This said, i had to go out and hunt down Direct X 7. So all those nVidia owners out there DONT BOTHER

Some of my games never start after installation because some files are missing?? Really?? DPLAYX.dll, DDRAW.dll It's hard to recognize that MS hasn't improved the product quality. Don't trust in their updates.
