"An excellent application worth every penny."

    August 13, 2010  |   By robto77

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Pros

Simple to set up. Simple to use. Spectacular with it's performance!

    Cons

Very little, in all honesty. A nicer GUI ala iTunes for scrolling through media files would be beneficial.

"By far one of the best DLNA Servers out there!"

    August 8, 2010  |   By Bradybunch01

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Pros

The easiest setup I've ever done. Works on my windows home server. DLNA devices recognize it instantly. Faster than Twonky. Supports just about every video codec.

    Cons

    So far none.

    Summary

I spent the better part of three days looking for a DLNA capable solution for my Windows Home Server (MediaSmart LX 195). The included Twonky Media Server is garbage and has limited codec support and the configuration options are non-existant. When I stumbled across Mezzmo I was a little skeptical but it had a ton of downloads so I figured what the heck. Turns out this software is just what I needed.
The install configures itself as a service that can start at boot so its starts with the home server. The initial scan for media took a while but I have about 5000 mp3s and 150+ videos. Once the scan was complete, It grabbed thumbnails from all the movies. I am streaming to my Sony Bravia EX700 series and it works flawlessly over wifi. On the fly encoding was flawless even on the low end hardware on the LX195. Picture quality on the 60" Bravia was beautiful. All in all I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for an easy way to stream your content and you have a ton of formats, look no further. This is the software for you.

    "So easy to use!"

    July 27, 2010  |   By mdee42

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Pros

I had no idea it would be so easy to view all my movies, music & pictures on my new Sony Bravia LCD HD 32". I don't consider myself too computer saavy and I got this working in no time! I think it may finally be time to cancel cable...

    Cons

I still need to tinker around with the thumbnails and getting tv episodes to show up in the right order, but that may just be my tags

    Summary

My Bravia has wifi, so I already have access to Netflix, YouTube, etc. on it. Mezzmo gives me ultimate potential for what I can view on my tv. Instead of wasting money and time on burning DVDs, I can view them right away on my tv. The price of purchasing the program ($24.95) is nothing compared to the money you throw away every month for tons of channels you don't even watch.

I like to multitask by watching tv and surfing the net at the same time, this allows me to watch the content on my computer without having to sit in my desk chair staring at a computer screen for hours twiddling my thumbs.

I seriously doubt you will find another program with more value for your money and ease of use. I initially was only trying to find out what "DLNA Certified" on my tv meant, so imagine my surprise when I was taking advantage of this feature by the end of the night! I can't wait to show off my find to my friends and family. I already showed my roommate and she couldn't believe it.

Go to www.mezzmo.com, learn more and give it a try. They even have a free 15 day trial, but after you've seen all it can do, you won't want to give it up.

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Cons

Isn't the default program used by TV manufacturers. They should give a CD of this with TV.

    "mezzmo review"

    July 26, 2010  |   By jkarchin

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Pros

Fast, eazy to use. Found my Samsung blu ray immediately. I was able to watch a dvd movie stored on my computer in 10 min from the time I installed Mezzmo.

    Cons

Initially goes thru your whole computer automatically finding all pix, videos, which does take some time.

    Summary

I just bought a Samsung bd-c6500. I uploaded the Samsung PC share manager. It takes forever to load. There are no instructions on how to get it to work. I spent several hours trying to get one movie file into it. Mezzmo by comparision is a breeze. Fast loading. Categorizes pix, video files much like picasa. Found my blu ray player immediately. When playing movie or watching pictures on my TV using Mezzmo, it worked flawlessly and quickly. Very easy and fast to add new pix or videos. I wouldn't waste my time trying to get any other program to work. All software should work as easy and quickly as this.

"Excellent - works really well straight out of the box!"

    July 26, 2010  |   By blu35ihft

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.8

    Pros

Using with my Samsung UN46C6800 + WiFi dongle.

    - No additional hardware required, just need a computer and and wireless router.
    - Works out of the box, unlike XBMC and others that require a lot of config and add-ons.
    - $25 vs $260 for an Apple TV.

    Cons

    - Can't interact with a specialist interface like you have for Apple TV on the TV, but thats a Samsung issue - they have their own browser.
    - Interface on your computer isn't skinable.

    Summary

When I bought my TV I was worried I'd have to spend another $260-400 for a decent media server like Apple TV, I decided against buying one until I tried out the "AllShare" feature on the Samsung UN46C6700.

I tried a lot of DLNA servers, none of which worked straight out of the box like this one did. TVersity and XBMC would allow the TV to connect to it but then either report that all the files (whether it was video, audio or picture) were unsupported.

Mezzmo was a completely other story... I just installed it, setup which directories I wanted it to look for media in and let it scan those directories. In less than 10 minutes I had the server installed and visible on the TV, a few minutes later I was streaming video, music and pictures to the TV. Interesting thing is that its not very resource hungry on the host machine either - I've had the server streaming media to the TV been working on the computer without any performance degradation.

For $25 you can have a media server that doesn't clutter your house with more wires and performs just as well as an Apple TV for a tenth of the price. If you ever run into any technical issues all you have to do is visit www.mezzmo.com and use the forum, the developers are very hands on.

Try it out - you won't be disappointed!

    "Mezzmo & Sony Blu-ray Players"

    July 22, 2010  |   By ChiangSan

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.7

    Pros

Mezzmo was the only media server that would play back Matroska (.mkv) video files on my Sony BDP-X57 Blu-ray player.

    Cons

Does not stream Internet content - thus the reason for 4 stars instead of 5

    Summary

If you are looking for a DLNA compliant media server for Windows, let me recommend Mezzmo (http://www.mezzmo.com). It is easy to setup and get running and it supports a wide variety of popular devices and formats. More importantly to me was the fact that Mezzmo was the only media server that I could find that would play back Matroska (.mkv) video files on my Sony BDP-X57 Blu-ray player. If you own one of the newer Sony Blu-ray players, Mezzmo is the media streaming software for you. Windows Media Player (which can also act as a media server) could not even play back Matroska video files on the Sony. Mezzmo works flawlessly and has a clean easy to understand user interface. Don?t waste your time with any other media streaming software ? Mezzmo is the best.

"Best Media Sharing Software I have seen."

    July 21, 2010  |   By dhunt922

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.7

    Pros

Streams to my Xbox fast and the audio and video or great quality. Organizes library automatically, automatically downloads missing song info and artwork.

    Cons

Took a while to gather all my files but i do have about 2000 songs and a bunch of movies and pictures.

    Summary

If your looking for a media sharing program that can stream media fast and in high quality look no further, I had another program called orbit before this and it would take almost 5 minutes just to load all my songs and begin to play and stream and when changing songs it would lag and not change the song for like 3 minutes with Mezzmo it plays almost instantly and goes to the next song fast. 5 Stars

    Updated on Jul 21, 2010

After using it for a while it does slow down my laptop, but not as much as my torrent program Vuze, I also forgot to mention my favorite feature the ability to make playlists so I can play them on my Xbox. Great program download the trial from here on Cnet or you download the full program for 25 bucks @ http://www.conceiva.com/products/mezzmo/default.asp
    Thanks for reading.

    "Mezzmo - works as advertised"

    July 11, 2010  |   By dgrau

    Version: Mezzmo 2.1.7

    Pros

Works as advertised - transcoding is excellent

    Cons

    There were no cons

    Summary

I recently acquired a Bravia KDLHX701 with internet TV. I tried all the free DLNA servers and WMP12. The only one that was easy to use and worked flawlessly was Mezzmo. The transcoded video was at least two time better then the same video played via WMP12. I highly recommend Mezzmo. See it at www.mezzmo.com
