"Works fine except file lists extremely slow to load."

    November 12, 2012  |   By peter_hardcastle

    Version: Mezzmo 2.7.1

    Pros

Streams video to my Sumsung HDTV, which TVersity does not do.
Music, photo's, video all served out to my DNLA devices without any problems.

    Cons

The lists of files available, as shown on the connected DNLA device, are unbelievably slow to load; a few minutes for each drill down. This is the case for both my Musicpal player & HDTV. TVersity, now uninstalled, was virtually instant (but wouldn't stream to my TV). Maybe there's a setting somewhere?

    Summary

Awkward to get going, but OK once you get your head around the control panel. Would be excellent if the file listing "Con" were resolved.

"Awful Interface - Serviio is soo much better"

    July 31, 2012  |   By AzizRahman786

    Version: Mezzmo 2.6.7

    Pros

It has a uninstaller - thanks God

    Cons

    Absolutely terrible and slow
    Interface is so confusing

    Summary

Had to install it after few hours of figuring it out, just awfully made and structured. Having used Serviio Media Server this is nothing compared.
Trust me when i say this, try Serviio and you'll never go back to this rubbish

"Serviio works much better, and for free."

    May 26, 2012  |   By smb77

    Version: Mezzmo 2.6.1

    Pros

Does not require per-device licensing as some other media servers do.

    Cons

Even after hours of fiddling and configuring of device profiles, it still will not stream H.264 encoded videos to my Sony BD player (which plays that format natively). Support forums suggested transcoding my .mp4s into .avi format, are working fine, but I don't feel like I should have to do. Serviio, on the other hand, detected the device type and assigned the right profile, and streamed all video files to the same device instantly and seamlessly. The second nail in Mezzmo's coffin was when my wife bought a Logitech Revue (with which Mezzmo advertises compatibility), but even after fiddling with the obligatory device profiles and other settings it will not detect media indexed by the server (forget playing the media, it won't even display the list). The third nail in their coffin was the $30 price tag, which you might assume would entitle you to a stable, mature, polished product, which is not at all the case.

    Summary

I'm not a digital multimedia expert, but I'm a highly technical user. I recognize that DLNA is still in its infancy as a technology, and just now starting to be widely used. That said, I would have expected a more mature and functional product for the $30 I paid. I cannot recommend this product.

"Great media server software, excellent customer service"

    January 14, 2012  |   By LahainaJoe

    Version: Mezzmo 2.5

    Pros

Fast setup, professional support and continued updates for new display equipment.

Excellent customer service and followup. I have been using it from their introduction, primarily for video, and it continues to improve and keep up to date with current technology.

    Cons

None really, this type of product is hitting moving software/hardware targets and the products support team
has been on the ball with updates and improvements to
    meet the users needs.

    Summary

A good media server, stable and has made such inovations/milestones as pre-transcoding, witch many will find very usefull if they have a large library.

"Known security risks and uninstall issues."

    January 11, 2012  |   By RogerMaris

    Version: Mezzmo 2.5

    Pros

    I like the sorting/grouping capability.
    Display is good too.

    Cons

*** This product utilizes a Local User Account, which is a known security risk and common exploit.

Uninstall of product is another issue because it leaves behind the known security risk (big oversight). The Mezzmo "uninstall" leaves behind 5 Registry Keys and a Local User Account, which is a known security exploit. I have not run any "tools" to discovered the password, but I know 3 ways to reset a local user password, even with the "user cannot reset password" fluff. Not good, Mezzmo.

    Summary

In today's internet connected world, a security risk is not a good trade off for a "really great display" and there are several free competitors that don't require local users accounts. It's just not worth the risk even with a consumer software firewall (TNTL).
