"Why would I upgrade when the free service doesn't work?"

    February 19, 2012  |   By sunlovercb

    Version: Messenger for eFax 4.4.0.514

    Pros

    In theory it is free.

    Cons

    Didn't work. No customer service

    Summary

I signed up for an account and downloaded the software. Then I sent myself a fax twice to test it. Twice I got an email that I had a fax but the link in the email kept telling me to download the software that I had already downloaded. No phone customer service and non-sense response from email customer service. I'm in my third decade of computing but the instructions were not worth the effort to navigate.

    "DO NOT USE"

    January 30, 2012  |   By dkartz

    Version: Messenger for eFax 4.4.0.514

    Pros

It...faxes and receives faxes. Most of the time.

    Cons

This is a horrible company. The product itself is adequate, but they hide things in the their contracts (like the fact that you can't transfer your fax number), or , charge you an annual fee plus whatever plan, PLUS whatever overages you may occur since they do not offer an unlimited plan. If you compare it to other efax services, it's ridiculously overpriced.

    Summary

    Do not use.

    "Canceled my service."

    June 1, 2010  |   By gracious2010

    Version: Messenger for eFax 4.4.0.514

    Pros

Good if -- and that is a big IF -- it works.

    Cons

Maximum file size is 10MB. If you have a lot of pages or need to send something in high resolution its an issue. I have experienced numerous error messages in sending faxes over the past 2 months. This is not convenient.

    Summary

I'd used the product to receive faxes in the past and send a few too. However, when I signed up for service this year I've had a number of issues and the bottom line for me is that I can't trust the service anymore.
    1) There seemed to be a number of times where the service was down temporarily. When I received emails from tech support they acknowledged the issue but said:" we would be unable to predict an exact date by which the service could be functional."
    2) Faxes I sent around the time I had the technical issues "went through" per eFax, but only 1 of 11 faxes I sent to my insurance company Anthem Blue Cross went through. -- I only found this out after I called them because I had not received reimbursement. They could only locate 1 of the 11 faxes I sent to them. -- This seems improbably and I don't trust that the faxes eFax claims we through actually went through.
    3) I thought eFax would be inexpensive and convenient. I not only paid for a few months of service, but now have to pay someone else to send everything that eFax says were sent and this has been anything but convenient.

I canceled my service and am heading out to re-fax everything using a landline service. I won't use or recommend eFax again.

"eFax 4.4x Will not work on Windows XP 32-bit"

    February 25, 2010  |   By leslie6042

    Version: Messenger for eFax 4.4.0.514

    Pros

Would work great IF I could install it.

    Cons

    V. 4.4x will not work on Windows XP Prof 32-bit, even with SP3. Works on my Windows XP Home computers, but will not install on new, faster Dell 32-bit Intel, w/ 4GB of RAM, XP Prof. Tech. support just says to install v. 4.3 with far less features.

    Summary

Disappointed that this version does not install on my computer. See Cons.
