"only reason I'm still using Windows messenger"
Version: Messenger Plus 5.10.0.746
Pros
tons of apps that help to save time and make your life easier.
Cons
My only complaints are about the stuff that Windows messenger itself does that slow down bungle the apps.
Summary
I hadn't used windows messenger since school till I was introduced to messenger plus, and it is now one of the things I value most on a daily basis, together with my iPad.
I started using this about 6months ago when I got fed up with FB chat. I half-own a studio for post sound editing. Comes in handy for many reasons, not just for when you need to kill time with games. First, it doesn't hog the CPU. Second, the floating contact option is a gem, if you are busy and you see an overseas client is finally available to ask him something. Third, the AutoTranslator app (chat translate) is phenomenal. My French and Spanish is good enough for ordering a drink and getting directions, but this saves so many headaches and arguments, when you can explain yourself and better understand a client and sometimes girlfriend ;-).
Even if you do'nt use mesenger for work, you can use it AT work to stay in touch with mates on Facebook . (there are a bunch of apps you can use - I used Contacts Saver and now using Chat Window Functions) . you can also use the Twiter apps -but I'm not a fan.
Messenger Plus has a lot of potential, it can only get better - its only up to private developers ad programmers - so get cracking!!! -
"Does a lot more than just Windows Live Messenger"
Version: Messenger Plus 5.10.0.746
Pros
Gives you a lot more for your Windows Live Messenger, without having to pay a cent more. Works with both Windows Live Messenger 2011 and 2009; lots of cool skins and plugins.
Cons
Messenger Plus! is not directly affiliated with Microsoft Corporation, (makers of the Windows Live Messenger Software). You need to download Live Messenger to use Plus!
Summary
I use the software daily, at work and at home. The latest version 5.10, has solved many of the issues that other reviewers have raised here, particularly the issue of ads. The sponsor program was removed a few years ago. The download process is transparent so that you decide what you want to install on your PC. Besides all the great Messenger Plus! features like sending winks, emoticons, sounds, getting chat logs online, I can enjoy the new Live Messenger features too - like being able to talk to my friends on Facebook while on Messenger itself. Bottom line, using Messenger Plus! is a win-win situation- all the great stuff from Windows Live Messenger working together with the features of Plus! Virus issues from the past from major antivirus and malware warning companies have given the product a green light..

"Messes up Windows Live Messenger..."
Version: Messenger Plus 4.79.342 Beta
Pros
Makes live messenger look pretty for you
Cons
Everyone who doesn't have Messenger Plus installed, either has to give in and install this piece of junk, or put up with friends who have it sending them unreadable messages with loads of hidden codes inside them.
Summary
Awful software, my friend installed it on his, now when he's messaging me his font looks awful, and theres all sorts of random characters being sent through at my end. Should send the additional information through more cleanly in a way that normal messenger ignores it so your not forced to install this piece of junk.

"one major problem"
Version: Messenger Plus 4.79.342 Beta
Pros
Lots of nice tweaks.
Cons
The problem I encountered, and the reason for only 2 stars, is that with Plus! installed, the text I wrote was invisible until I hit Enter.
Also, it tries to install some ad software during the installation - just keep rejecting it, no problem.Summary
Apart from the invisible letters and graphics, everything seemed to work. However, you obviously have to be able to see what you are writing, that's pretty basic. I tried changing the color of the text, but no good. That's why, despite the nice features, I ended up removing 'Plus!'.
BTW my Messenger was up-to-date. I use HiYo as well, might be a conflict there - dunno.
