Merge MP3 User Reviews

"Works great, no installation required, fast and easy."
Version: Merge MP3 0.1n
Pros
Ignore all the bogus bad reviews. I don't know who's writing them or why, by there is absolutely NO malware included in this tiny utility. Easily merges a whole bunch of MP3 files into one, with no loss of quality. Interface is pretty simple, not too hard to figure out. Can quickly export into a single MP3, AND it can also create an M4B audiobook using the included "iTunesCoder.exe" plus iTunes. (NOTE: the iTunesCodes.exe application does NOT require any installation either.) That kind of encoding is a lot slower, of course, and you have to adjust your iTunes settings to control the conversion properties (bitrate, etc).
Includes a built-in MP3 player so you can verify the correct ordering of your files.Cons
Most headers seem intact, but the album cover icon was not included in my first test, but I hadn't read the instructions on the publisher's website yet, so that was my fault.
The preferences are very short, but unless you already understand what "raw stream mode" and "VBR frame" means, it's hard to know what to do with them. Must consult the help file, I guess, but who wants to do that?Summary
Those who wrote the negative reviews might have clicked the big green button at the top of this page: "Install Now (CNET Installer Enabled)". I didn't. Because I have a free CNET account, I get a separate link just below that button which says "Direct Download Link". Using THAT link means I bypass the CNET installation managing software, which I find more annoying than helpful. You can also get the original app in a simple zip file directly from the publisher's website at www dot shchuka dot com.

"Do Not Download"
Version: Merge MP3 0.1n
Pros
Not one darn thing
Cons
Came with a myriad of extra crap that installed extra toolbars on browsers and caused by antivirus program to work overtime protecting my computer from threats.
-
"Works as advertised. Simply wonderful!"
Version: Merge MP3 0.1n
Pros
I merged 12 mp3 audiobook files @ 232mb and the program took 5 seconds. The output file was a little smaller than the sum of the source :) It's one file for the actual program and another file to make iTunes audiobooks. MP3Merge did access the internet looking for an updated version. My firewall blocked it, but you can disable that under preferences. Drag n drop with a very clean looking interface.
Cons

Summary
Great program at a great price! It's one of those nice little freeware programs you unzip and double-click the program file to run.

"Waste of time because it doesn't work!"
Version: Merge MP3 0.1n
Pros
None none none
Cons
IT DOESN'T WORK! I just wanted to merge two MP3 files...one that is 24KB and one that is 93KB. I get a file that's 115KB, but only has the sound of the first MP3 file. Pathetic.

Pros
Its Free!
Was very easy and intuitive to use.
Worked every time with no problems.
I love that you can have this program convert the output to an .m4b.Cons
It's free - that will make a lot of people think it is not worthy but nothing could be further from the truth.!!!
Summary
I have no hesitation recommending this for anyone needing a quick and easy program for merging mp3's
