"Excellent and Simple to use Software"

January 02, 2009  |  By RQD2

 |  Version: Memeo AutoBackup 3.50.3429

Pros

Simple and affordable.

Cons

Windows XP SP3 Update

Summary

I like the flexibility and simplicity of this Backup Software. I would like to see more clear options on the restore. Something like file version _1, _2, _3, to track out specifically the versions of the file on its life time.

The other issue I would like to bring up is the hard drive failure after installing Windows XP Update SP3. It freezes the system up. But I honestly believe that is a Windows XP issue. Need to verify this.

"Works Great, but prevents PC shutdown"

July 17, 2008  |  By ksmith51

 |  Version: Memeo AutoBackup 3.50.3429

Pros

Nice auto background backup solution.

Cons

For any XP SP3 installation, Memeo AutoBackup hangs XP shutdown. This has been a documented bug on Memeo's support forum for months without a fix.

"Saved my Life"

July 01, 2008  |  By coffeeplease88

 |  Version: Memeo AutoBackup 3.50.3429

Pros

My friends told me for ages that i should backup my data. They said that it was inevitable that one day my hard drive would crash. For once, I'm glad i believed them. I started using Memeo Autobackup a couple of months ago to backup my files. I had tax documents, presentations, movies, and most importantly pictures from all the things i've done for the past 5 years. When my POS hard drive crashed, i was so relieved that I backed up my stuff. All the files that I backed up were there for me to put back on my hard drive. And they were my most up-to-date files too! It backs everything up automatically (hence, Autobakcup). Thanks Memeo!

Cons

UI is simplistic, but I guess that's why it is so easy to use.

"Ruined my Restore"

June 15, 2008  |  By spanchovy

 |  Version: Memeo AutoBackup 3.50.3429

Pros

Easy to install

Cons

am reconstructing my computer after a hard drive failure. "Thank God I backed all my data up with Memeo," I said to myself. Little did I know how very wrong I was.

What is a backup program's most important function? To restore your files when that fateful day happens. Memeo fails to do this in a serious way. When you put in your new harddrive (which is what you're going to do when your old drive dies), Memeo attempts to restore by overwriting your backup with your new drive's contents.

Hard to believe? It's true. When you turn on Memeo and ask it to restore a backup to your computer, it first scans your computer and will overwrite any folders that exist on both your computer and your backup, before attempting the restore. Unbelieveable! I told myself that I must be reading the instructions incorrectly; nope, I double and triple checked.

I'm embarrassed for this company and how shoddy this product is. After being so diligent as to run a backup program, the last thing you want is to have the file restore fail on you.

Do you want to gamble your important files on a program that deletes them? Then buy Memeo.
