    "Latest updates are great"

    May 19, 2011  |   By joxpro

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 5.6.1

    Pros

The most stable and easy to use mac dj app that does more than the basics. Lots of great features for different uses, live mixing and playlists. For basic DJing check out the cheaper DJ version... this is the pro version with video.

    Cons

Not as many features for vinyl lovers, but that's not its focus. It shines at what it does best.

"Probably great if you run a radio station"

    July 7, 2010  |   By cpt-tobe

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 5.1

    Pros

Playlist features are very sophisticated, which seems to be the main idea of the program

    Cons

Cheap, confusing GUI, does not play MP3 files with variable bit rate (SERIOUSLY?), no beatmatching, looping function and EQs nearly useless, not fun

    Summary

I couldn't really get anything useful out of this software for the way I like to mix music, but maybe I am not the target group? Most typical DJ features are not well realized at all, the EQ sounds and handles terrible and the loop functions are practically useless, because there is not beat detection and it is nearly impossible to set an exact loop manually. The interface with its shades of blue on black is also really hard to read. What is quite amazing are the playlist functions, it looks like you can pre-program a whole radio set and then let the software pretty much pick and play the tracks by itself. Not a really creative or fun tool though.

    "Support is not good"

    April 3, 2008  |   By djcg

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 4.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I actually think this is a very good application. It does almost everything it claims. It is stable and has some very good features. My issue is that the support is bad. I had been in touch with the customer support (writer) who brushed me and my issue off and I have not seen a new version since... well look for your self... a year and a half. If you plan to use this application professionally, I advice you consider some of the other apps out there. Oh, I would also like to mention I feel I was ripped off due to the high price. these other apps only cost 1/4 of what this one charges. I thought I was going to get more for my buck, but I was fooled.

    "MegaSeg is the real deal"

    January 18, 2007  |   By ltnyc

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 4.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been working in commercial terrestrial and now satellite radio for well over a decade and I'm very impressed with MegaSeg. In a market segment dominated by PC-only software (Selector, Music Master, etc.) only MegaSeg has the power and versatility to get the job done on the Mac. This is a professional grade tool which allows you to schedule and broadcast a real radio station - even from a PowerBook (or, I guess, your MacBook these days).

I hope they keep on updating and improving this program because if they do I'll certainly keep on using it. For the Macintosh platform nothing else can touch it. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about internet or low power FM broadcasting.

    "Not Bad"

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 4.0

    Summary

As a former soundman for bands, I found this very cool. It's out of reach in cost for the everyday Joe. I guess there's enough radio stations and DJ's to make the bucks on it. Great app.

"It does the job...how about network features?"

    May 16, 2005  |   By littlejoe

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 3.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Unlike a lot of people who use this program for DJing at a parties or clubs, we use it at Radio K (www.radiok.org) for playing our spots and whips during the day, and our computer DJ at night when nobody is around. We've used it for about 2 years now, and it gets better with every update. Jason actually answers the phone during the day and is great at answering questions over the phone, and also with the new feature of automatic feedback from within the program.

I only hope that a future update will make it easier to use on a network, where different computers can be used to update a computer that actually uses it. This would have to include a different level of licensing I think.

    "No support for Lossless formats"

    January 24, 2005  |   By bplaney

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 3.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This thing will not work with my .FLAC or .SHN files (I haven't tried .APE yet). This was the first and only thing I tried with the software: Import -> .FLAC (no go); Import -> SHN (no go).

So what can this software offer me? I don't mess with .mp3 or .wav or .mp4 formats.

    "It works and well too!"

    October 4, 2003  |   By dj_drew

    Version: MegaSeg DJ 2.6.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using this program since it was MegaSeg 1.x and it has only gotten better with age. I'm a professional DJ that has worked all the major cruise lines of the world and this program has definately been put to the test. I can use MegaSeg night after night for hours on end and not haver to worry about a crash or audio drop outs. I can set playlists up and host various event, hook it up to a remote and operate it from the dancefloor, or beat mix live! My formal training is in radio broadcasting and the tools that are available for programming are the same that are offered for major radio station set-ups. The price that is being asked for this program is just a fraction of it's true value. This is a $1000 program all wrapped up into a simple yet powerful professional bundle. If you're a pro DJ or even working in a small town radio station I highly suggest making your life easier by picking up this program. Congrats to Jason, you did a great job man.
