When Mail receives a new message it checks how many messages you've received from the recipient so far. If this is more then a selected amount you will be asked if you want to create a personal mailbox for this user and filter all future mail from that person into that mailbox. The result will be a very organized Mail archive with a mailbox for every contact you have with all mail filtered into that mailbox automatically.
