"Best all round choice"
Version: MediaEdit 3.2
Pros
This is the best Movie editor out there for Mac, though admittedly the choice isn't great. It beats the pants off the clunky ergomomic disaster that is now iMovie. The great thing about it, is that it doesn't over-complicate anything (like FCP does, for instance.) It takes next to no time to create a professional-looking result. The layering concept works really well - you can move titles quickly and easily, and add remixed sound into layers as well.
Cons
Why only four stars then? Mainly because it needs further development. You can't mix sound within the programme, only layer it (though you can export it to the likes of Protools, mix it there and reimport it.)
And there are some bugs.
The comment above about cropping is correct, but few movie editors do that and none at this price.Summary
Flexible, speedy and uncomplicated. Just like Movie editing should be. Why aren't the others like this? Especially the awful iMovie.
I should have made it clear that I think this is the best choice for amateur move-makers. Of course, it can't compete with the bells and whistles of high end pro software from the likes of Avid and Adobe. The gap isn't so wide between it and the new FCPX, though.
If I had the money I'd invest it in developing this product, which has the potential to wipe the floor with other movie editing software. Well done, Mein software, and keep up the good work. By the way I am not connected with this company in any way - I live in the UK.
