"I want soooo badly to rate this a perfect score..."
Version: MediaCoder 0.7.5.4730
Pros
Great all in one software for my specific needs, cropping and trimming in batch mode... and video conversion.
Cons
Why oh why does it crash EVERY TIME I try to use it... 3 out of 5 times it will crash and give an error. It's driving me crazy because the potential is amazing.
Summary
For a free product... this is some pretty amazing software... but, and it's a big BUT, it crashes so very often that I wonder if the author is in way over his head with all the features. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 because I see the potential here and maybe the problem is on my end, so if it ends up working for me, I will update the review... but normally, when something doesn't work like this and crashes all the time; a 0 out of 5 is more appropriate.

"Looks complicated, but does exactly what is should do."
Version: MediaCoder 0.7.3.4640
Pros
Very good result when I converted MOV to AVI. Does not use all resources, so you can continue to work. Can also rotate video's 90 degrees, handy when you made a video with your mobile. Very good help via a user forum (who told me how to rotate).
Cons
Looks complicated. Settings are a bit difficult to understand.
Summary
Tried it for the first time today, but am already very happy. I compared the results of MOV to AVI conversion of this programm with others, and this gave the best result. I had a MOV file with a woodpecker on a tree on my photo camera. Unfortunately it was rotated 90 degrees: very unhandy. This programm rotated it 90 back, so now I can finally look at it on my computer. And all this with only a little loss of quality. Other programms I checked were not able to rotate and had more quality loss.

"Miles ahead of expensive licensed based alternatives."
Version: MediaCoder 0.7.3.4616
Pros
-Support for SMP based transcoding on multi-core setups (benefits even from HT)
-Support for CUDA with far more control than the next available paid competitor.
-Drag and drop Que
-Relatively large selection of device based presets.Cons
-Unorthodox Setting Wizard
-Steep learning curve when working with difficult HD formats
-Lack of support for DIVXSummary
For quick transcoding ques for devices this program presents an easy interface and SMP allows multi-core users to realize the performance benefit that has been marketed to them from the start. I find that the program allows the user to make mistakes when combining certain options such as selecting improper containers for particular formats. I also noticed less than satisfactory results as far video quality when using CUDA as an execution platform however I attribute a great deal of this as a result of overall FPU precision. Overall this is a great relatively easy to use program that does what a lot of other fall short on.

Pros
Did not really work for me - so hard to say

Tried to covert flv file to mp4 (for iphone) but it did not work.
Furthermore, I do not like software that automatically takes me to a website.Summary
Give it a shot, if you have time - but do not be too hopeful.
