"The Best I've Experienced out of Many!"

August 02, 2013  |  By cmktokyo

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

The video clips are precise and the output is excellent!!!!

Cons

Nothing that I've encountered. However, in general most video editing program can be glitch at times. It's really the nature of the beast when you're dealing with video editing.

Summary

With a deadline to close out a video project, I spent hours downloading various video cutter apps. I must say that I was very impressed with Media Cope and immediately noticed the excellent quality of the video output which was very important to me. I'm also impressed with the integrated functionality of the software to include a video converter and other useful tools. I did not experience the malware bloat that others have referred to, and this software is 100% free. As with most free program installs, options are in place to bundle other apps. You just have to pay attention to the installation process, and bypass such offerings...it's a no-brainer. I don't think any software is perfect but from what I've experienced with a number of the top video cutter apps both free and paid; I'm sticking with Media Cope. It provided the best results with a clean interface. I usually don't take the time to review my purchases/downloads, however I'd highly recommend this app

"Surprised to see so many negative reviews here"

July 30, 2013  |  By skajdlive

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

Straightforward and very impressive quality results with all copying and converting.
Don't understand why so many are saying malware. None in my experience.

Cons

Many annoying glitches. Far from perfect. Lots of "Grrr ***!) moments due to software faults/glitches.

Summary

The results I have gotten from using this software are near perfect quality. In my experience the best quality results from copying, joining, cutting etc and converting I have ever seen but all the glitches and hang-ups it can be a real headache. When it works fine its wonderful. When it fails and refuses to obey it is a real pain in the back door.

"Kind of disappointed"

May 30, 2013  |  By seyhall

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

No spyware, viruses, or anything like that. Believe it or not, all that stuff is added by CNet itself. I always use download.com to find software, but then I always download it from the software's website. Don't use the CNet downloader!

Well, it's free.

I only used the Video Cutter, Photo Cutter, and Photo Resizer/Converter features.

Cons

I had an MP4 video that was just a bit too long to fit on a DVD, so I wanted to chop the last 2:30 off.

Media Cope Video Cutter doesn't let you enter the numbers. You can't even move a slider to the point you want to select the start and end. Instead, you have to PLAY the video and click the start and end buttons just at the right place.

Finally, I get the start and and points just right and tell it to save that part. I selected "Same Quality." To me, that means without re-encoding. Well, two hours later, it produced a 13 GB file from my original 4.7 GB file -- completely useless! I checked with a media properties utility I have, and the old and the new were completely different!

Just for the sake of thoroughness, I tried the Photo Cutter. I suppose it's a bit easier than loading PaintShop Pro and cropping your photos.

I then tried the Photo Resizer/Converter. Frankly, IrfanView does a much better job.

Summary

Download it from the publisher's website, and you won't get viruses. But I wasn't very satisfied with it anyway.

"EZ, fast way to get same quality clips of large vide"

May 15, 2013  |  By Happy_Camper2

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

Fast, can make a clip, then another, then another very fast from same video as you speed through looking for clips. I did 1080p .MP4 and a 3 min clip saved faster than most full editors.

Cons

The malware comes from using the CNET downloader. I get that stuff from every CNET download, so I downloaded from the publisher and had no issues. I am at point where I will go elsewhere for the donwload, even though I have gotten good at playing the download game at CNET.

Summary

Open the program and select the "cutter" tab. Use the open button to browse to the file you want to split.
It will load and start playing.
Use the slider to get near were you want to start first clip and press the select start button.
Slide along to were you want clip to end and press the select end button.
Press the stop button, So video stays were you quit clipping.
Select same quality and leave the format same as origional (or change them to suit.) select save and name the 'baby" and press save.
Now, just move the slider bar were you want to resume working from and press play, marking a new start and stop and saving as often as you hit a clip you want. It really is that simple.

"Agreed that its a malware program"

April 25, 2013  |  By notacreativeone

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

Never got to use because I deleted it.

Cons

Installs price peep without asking
Installs Wajam without asking

Summary

When it first starts out the download seems ok. Then you get to a portion that you notice little tiny check boxes imbedded in text. If you dont read, you wouldnt know that you were installing a DJ toolbar. That isnt the bad part. The bad part is that even if you uncheck the boxes, it still installs Price Peep and Wajam. Without asking. I wouldn't have noticed except that both of them opened up in firefox asking to be installed.

"Does what it says but be careful durring installation!"

April 06, 2013  |  By firewatch54

 |  Version: Media Cope 3.4

Pros

Media Cope is an excellent program and it does everything that it says it will do. I love what this program does and if you play with it enough you will get the hang of it.

Cons

You have to be careful and observant durring downloading and installation. There is AdWare and Tool Bars riding in the download and installation software Use the custom download and installation choices so that you can catch and opt out of the adware that rides along with the program. Just pay close attention and write things down if you need to so that you can go back and deal with it. USE CUSTOM INSTALL and get help if you need to. If you're not sure about something....get help.!

Summary

It works great and it's free. Just pay careful attention and be aware durring downloading and installing.
