"Great product! I'm a writer, and it helps me a LOT"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
none so far
Cons
Would be nice to have an option of interweaving the McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme into Word 2003 or Final Draft or even weaving it into the internet (for writing this review, for example).
Summary
Would be nice to have an option of interweaving the McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme into Word 2003, Final Draft or even the internet -- but knowing how much LESS stable Word, Final Draft and/or the internet could become if this option was used by many people - each with different expectations and different perspectives -- I can now understand why they chose to keep the McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme an independent application.

"Without hesitation, I highly recommend this product!!!!"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
This recommedation is given for the following reasons: it is very easy to use and reflects the author's intuitive understanding of the needs of its users, the thesaurus is outstanding, even superior to software such as Word. And the price...
Cons
What's up with the "hyperbolic thesaurus" ? Seems like an unnecessary addition of "fluff" to the program. Perhaps those lines of code could have been better used for some other feature.
Summary
Get it now and God bless Cnet as the provider of free software without all the predatory crap you get from most "free" software sites!

"Better than I expected"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
simple to use and provides a large number of rhyme suggestions
Cons
have only used twice yet but have not experienced any problems
-
"Excellent tool"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
I like it that all tools u really need r n 1 window, no toggling. I've written 4 poems w/out leaving the app. When i needed add'l resouces I used add'l apps. Verse forms encourage more poetry research & knowledge. Samples r xtra learning bonus.
Cons
I would have liked for the verse forms to be given the proper form name.

"Good---but quite bloated now"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
It's free. Can't complain about that.
Cons
This used to be a comprehensive, easy-to-use program without lots of unnecessary bells and whistles. Unfortunately, ver. 2 adds a text editor, online lookup services, alternate viewing modes, and lots of other stuff---and a very confusing interface.
Summary
This is a good example of the concept, "less is more."
It's always a temptation for software developers to add more and more features, just because they can. This app has become so complicated, I think the average user---say, a songwriter who's just looking for rhymes---will find it overwhelming.
Maybe the author will realize that a good rhyming dictionary doesn't have to be all things to all people, and resume offering a simple, effective version of it as well.
Meanwhile, my advice is: Try to find a copy of version 1 and use that instead. -
"Pretty good. Could be better."
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
It has a rhyming dictionary, a rhyme scheme, and a syllable counter.
Cons
The rhyme dictionary has way too many entries (some of which aren't even words) and shouldn't have names. It makes it hard to find a good word. There's a glitch when you scroll the syllable counter and rhyme scheme all mess up.

"Good product, and its easy to use"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
Easy to use
Cons
cant find anything wrong with it
-
"Much more than I expected!"
Version: McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme with VersePerfect 2
Pros
I was only looking for something basic for rhyming but this thing automatically counts syllables too. Plus its got a word editor so you can type your songs/poems right into it or do a copy and paste from your favorite app. I just started using it, so I have yet to find any cons.
