Version: McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007
"McAfee is best for novices"
Pros: Let's be honest. when it comes to detection McAfee is one of the best anti-virus/anti-spyware you can have. McAfee anti-virus stops most viruses/spyware and the firewall is very effective. McAfee does use a lot of memory, but it is also very accurate. The amount of protection McAfee provides is worth the memory. As a single security suite choose McAfee. Each service is powerful and requires minimal intervention. It's also the best protection for novices, and the learning curve is small.

McAfee does provide good protection, but there is a thing called OVERKILL. With other programs like BitDefender and AntiVir (that have freeware editions)...there's little reason why anyone should purchase McAfee.
If you consider the level of protection that McAfee provides...it's pretty much akin to just unplugging your computer from the internet.
