"NOT GOOD!!"
Version: McAfee VirusScan Plus 2008
Pros
Uhhhhhhh...........
Cons
NOT RELIABLE AT ALL!! I had it installed for about two years and it took up about 5 process, and easily 60,000 kb's of space, slowed down my computer like heck and somehow went into the Registry and messed up my reboot, took me about 10 mins just to shutdown and 15 mins to get to the XP login page. When i logged in it would use 100% CPU usage for no reason, so that added another 4-5 mins to me getting on the internet. Since I thought it was not such a great program I later installed SpywareTerminator(which I recommend to anyone with XP or Vista, but better on XP with Realtime protection) and it found 3 trojans and about 3-4 spyware (tracking cookies). After that I uninstalled and installed Avira AntiVir Personal Edition and have had no problems since...

"Resource Hog. Average-poor performance"
Version: McAfee VirusScan Plus 2008
Pros
Pretty buttons? : ) McAfee's extra features are somewhat attractive. However, I can find these programs in almost any decent utilities package and won't have to cope with the deletion of my system's resources. McAfee is a spyware application, so it should stick to detecting spyware and leave the "extras" to other companies.
Cons
After reading the mixed reviews, I loaded McAfee with some reservations, expecting that I'd encounter a few tweaks I could probably cope with (I work with graphics programs on a daily basis). However, I didn't anticipate how much memory this monster would consume. I also found McAfee to be a washout, in terms of it's effectiveness against viruses and "user friendly" interface. Compared with my two other spyware apps (both free and much lighter than McAfee), McAfee performed poorly (caught only 1 worm-whereas the others detected 4-5) and required that I go through a rather elaborate and confusing process in order to remove the offending agent.

"Not too good with spyware"
Version: McAfee VirusScan Plus 2008
Pros
The software is really easy to use.
Cons
I was using a trial version that came with my new notebook. After finishing the trial period I installed the Prodigy antivirus (It is sponsor by my internet company in Mexico) and this one found 5 spywares at the first run. I was thinking on buying the full version of McAfee but not anymore.

"Huh"
Version: McAfee VirusScan Plus 2008
Cons
Sitting with a dam Quadro Core 2.8Ghz each and 4gb RAM DDR 2, and it lags more than 5 copies of Unreal Tournament 3. Beside, it didn't find my viruses, that i installed just to test the program's precision, while Comodo and other programs did.
Can't understand why it has such a high star rate. 0_o
