"piece of ....."
Version: McAfee Family Protection 1.0
Pros
let's see..the usual family protection mumbo jumbo.
Cons
Deleting this thing is close to impossible.
I deleted the whole program with Revo Uninstaller after i accidentally pressed the button to delete the "disable program" button.. and internet explorer and mozilla firefox just won't work anymore x.xSummary
Well i pretty much hate this thing.
I am totally stumped on how to get rid of it once and for all.
I'm not sure whether it was this program or something else that made my computer extremeeelly slow and lame. :(
Also..i can't even go on AIM, MSN, IE, and things of that sort.
so my last resort is to redownload this and try to disable it.
wish me luck, or i'll have to reboot my computer. siiiigh. -
"Poor manual, senseless timeouts, poor customization"
Version: McAfee Family Protection 1.0
Pros
here are my 10 characters...
Cons
Limited options for customization. Has an apparently un-fixable default log-out of about 15 min - it doesnt realize that online access means more than just a browser. Kicks me off of Email, Quicken or online games after 15 min.
Summary
I find myself disabling this lousy software to get most things done. The log-in screen is small and hard to read, and (at least with the Verizon version) one has to use a registered Verizon Email as the each user's username (instead of, for instance, 'Dad' or 'Junior.' The time-outs are hair-pullingly frustrating.

"Didn't block anything..."
Version: McAfee Family Protection 1.0
Pros
Tech support?? They were there...
Cons
Did not block any sites, customer service could not figure it out...
Summary
Thought I would try this program out and after trial and error with different settings, I broke down and got on to chat with tech support. They tried to be helpful and escalated me. Got someone who shared my screen with me, but did not help.
Any search for 'sex', 'boobs', etc in google and clicking on the first few hits loaded each page just nicely.
Tried all 3 major browsers, I am on x64, but the program loaded fine and tech support didn't say anything about that being an issue.
Maybe you will have luck, but I revert back to the ol' freebee - OpenDNS
