"Makes internet crawl and disables Windows Firewall"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
Aside from firewall issues, the program is spectacular.
Cons
A bug has existed for over two months and support refuses to provide a workaround. Simply search for "McAfee firewall slow internet" and extensive forum posts will pop up. The bug makes connecting to the internet a hassle while extensively using system resources. The only workaround is to disable net guard to access the internet, but system resources are still used and connection is severely limited (e.g., frequent timeouts, unable to stream video, etc.). Even worse, McAfee Firewall prevents turning on windows firewall even when McAfee is disabled!
Summary
POS avoid until actual solution is provided.

"Wouldn't install"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
good reputation
Cons
Couldn't install because I had Norton. Wasn't going to remove Norton just to try McAfee
Summary
Never got to try it.

"Not just bad but dangerous!"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
Absolutely none!
Cons
Ruined my Operation System. It knocked out a piece of my Windows OS and when I called support, not only would they NOT HELP, but were downright rude! I would advise strongly against getting involved with this company.
Summary
STAY AWAY!

"I don't know why a lot of people hate it?"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
McAfee is a real good one to protect pc, it catches almost threats out there to harm your pc when you're online.
Cons
It takes a lot pc's resource, but not much.

"Very ineffective Anti-Virus!"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
Site-advisor feature is good.
Cons
Pay for virus removal if your pc gets infected with an active subscription.
Summary
I'm not satisfied with this product. It did not protect my pc from a malware. The customer service is pathetic. Almost impossible to find a number where you can call them if you need help. They renewed my subscription with my cc information without my consent.

"Useless product"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
Already on new PC
Cons
Stop a Trojan too late.
Summary
After a virus infected my PC, I contacted them for assistance. Even though I have an active subscription, they wanted $89 to remove the virus. What do I have them for?
Don't waste your money. -
"Horrible product. As bad as malware"
Version: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012
Pros
It came with a 1 year free subscription with the computer I bought
Cons
If this company was once reputable, it is no longer. Many client companies will no longer use McAfee: It catches things maybe 1 in 4 times, requires restarts everytime it does minor updates, and is a generally USELESS program. Home users: Get Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.
Summary
I would rather use free programs like Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials than to use a free subscription to McAfee. Their product sucks, and they're useless at a personal level. I think at an enterprise level, you will do your company more harm than good.
