"Might be nice if it could communicate!"

    August 30, 2012   |   By Rayosun2

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 8.4

    Pros

There are some good features, but wince the whole purpose of a MAILING program is sending mail, see my Cons:

    Cons

I'm got two SMPT channels, but since neither one uses Port 25 any more THIS software can't send any mail because it may ASSUME that EVERYBODY uses the same standard port(s) and doesn't provide any opportunity to designate one's own port. And technical support is useless.
I'm a pretty nice person with a teaching background, as well as IT. I don't enjoy giving bad grades, but I require that people EARN decent grades.

    Summary

This software isn't ready for prime time.

"Company refuses support after discovering critical flaw"

    June 11, 2012   |   By jjdeluxe

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 8.3.9

    Pros

When it does what you want, and you don't need support, it is about as good as 10 other alternatives.

    Cons

The MaxProg company, maker of MaxBulk Mailer, has demonstrated dubious business practices. They refused my support request from their forum to avoid exposing a flaw in their software.

Please read on and I believe you will agree. If you are interested in purchasing this software, you should be aware of this recent course of events.

I recently discovered a critical flaw in the software and reached out to the only option for support, their self hosted forum. The company is not available by phone, and they do not respond to email.

    Summary

Below you will see two links to the conversation. The first link shows the support request as it appeared on the company's support forum before it was censored to remove evidence of a flaw in their software. The second link is to the posting on the forum as it appears now.

    original post:

    http://mbmpost.s3.amazonaws.com/MaxProg-post.pdf

censored post as it appears today:

    http://www.maxprog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6090

I presented the problem in a technically informative and objective fashion. The response from the company was rude and offered no technical support. If you carefully read my support request, and the responses back from their support, you will see why I am so frustrated and angry with these people.

If you are technically inclined, you will find it even more illuminating as to how insincere these people because my analysis is simple, and their response was defensive and deflected the facts.

The company behind this product may abandon you after they take your money. They may censor your posts so the public is not exposed to the product's bugs, and bad publicity. You should not believe what you see on the forum, because it is likely to have been manipulated.

"6.5 NO LONGER crashes for me; I'm happy"

    May 15, 2009   |   By chuckmiller

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 6.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I didn't just comment my original post since I thought the fix should be more up front. 6.5 runs fine for me now that the developer made one small fix affecting Power PC machines like mine. The version number hasn't changed, but current downloads have the fix.

Developer Stan responded to my query in about 10 minutes. I think that's fast enough.

    "warning..."

    May 01, 2008   |   By Lornejay

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 5.7

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using Max Bulk for 3 years. I know the program really well and am an advanced user. Twice now the program has sent MULTIPLE emails to the same email address. This has been disastrous. The first time it happened about a year ago, I was under the impression they fixed the issue. They did not. The only thing you never want a program like this to do is actually send your existing list the same email 2-10 times. There should be NO WAY for a program to do this. I would steer clear. I emailed the developer and I guess they had no interest in addressing this issue hoping I will go away. Well, I'm gone. Don't take a chance with this software. It will hurt your business.

    "Worked great for me"

    December 13, 2007   |   By drewellison

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 5.6.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It was pretty easy to figure out, without going to any documentation. I had a list of 4,000 email addresses I wanted to send to, with some photos, and it was easy to write up my email, add photos, import the email addresses, and send.
The best part was that is worked flawlessly with my EIMS email server.
I tried another program which was cheaper, but didn't work well with my email server and had a hard time incorporating jpgs into my email.
I recommend MaxBulk Mailer for OSX.

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 5.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Been using since 4.4, and this version does exactly what it should with good integration with most mail clients, SSL, HTML messaging, etc. Plus, VERY responsive tech support--resolved a reported bug within a day and posted a new version immediately.

    "Junk!!"

    August 22, 2006   |   By explorz12

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 4.4.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
What a piece of buggy junk.

There are so many bugs its hard to count. The main one being that it will not retain formatting when you try to use stylized text to create an email in this program. Every time you save, close and re-open your file - it comes up with different formatting. What was centered is now left justified. What was left justified is now centered. Maddening and useless.

    "It deleted my lists"

    March 23, 2006   |   By jg_comicraft

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer X 2.8

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using MBM for several years to send monthly mailings to lists of 1000-7000 subscribers. It's horrendously slow to send, but the mailings look great, so I consider it to serve the purpose well.

However, I was just going through and removing bounced addresses, when I managed to accidentally delete three of my lists. Their tech support (which replied in a day, to their credit), said the files are "removed from the system", and I believe them, as two separate file recovery programs had absolutely no luck. Why not move the files to the trash instead? I don't know.

Obviously I'm stupid for not backing the files up before messing with them, but I'd been doing it for years with no worries. But I still can't believe the program could perform a task so horribly drastic that unbelievably easily and deliberately.

Three years of collected addresses down the tubes in a matter of seconds. So if you use it, back up your list files. Religiously.

    John

    "**FANTASTIC!!!"

    February 09, 2006

    Version: MaxBulk Mailer 4.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using this to send good looking HTML emails to our database and couldn't sing higher praises for this software.

This product just works. period. Questions were answered almost immediately from the developers (when I had one).

If you are looking for something that can send those professional looking "HTML" emails (and everything in between) LOOK NO FURTHER!!!

    GREAT PRICE AND GREAT SOFTWARE!
