I've used various editions of this product over the last 15 years or so, to help my kids learn to type. Each one learned typing proficiency in a painless & fun way, though I wouldn't say the program is just for kids.

Got my basic typing skills about 12 years ago using Mavis Beacon.

Couldn't get the trial to work.
Summary
Simply couldn't get trial version to work. It asks for proxy information to go through registration process, instead of simply pulling it from the browser setting (duh!). And then when I try to enter proxy information it turns out the text box for proxy only accepts limited number of characters which is very short, and my proxy name simply doesn't fit (double duh!). Also what I didn't like is a bit about collecting my personal information on behalf of a publisher, which will be used in a way... and then they tell me to read the agreement to see how they will use my personal information, which I have neither time nor desire to do.
I did learn to type using Mavis Beacon program 12 years ago, and now, when I wanted to get this product for my wife, I come across such a disappointment. Of course, may be a purchased version will work fine, but frankly after seeing these ridiculous issues with trial I don't feel like buying it. I'll look for alternative product. -

This my 3rd attempt at installing Mavis Beacon. I have never seen it run on my computer because it simply is difficult to install.
Summary
I dislike this product because installing it should not be cryptic or superficial. This should be an easy install and it is not. This is my 3rd try with various version and now I am convinced that I do not need this software. My opinion is that installing from disk would probably go better Broderbund has got this thing seriously rigged some how to not allow an easy install. Sorry, it sucks!
