From Waveform Software:
Matriosity is a matrix generator and analyzer for the branch of music composition known as serialism. It accepts a prime row either as letters or numbers, and from this row generates a matrix (also as letters or numbers). It also analyzes the prime form of the row's dyads, trichords, tetrachords, and hexachords.
Matrices generated by Matriosity can be saved for later and printed.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This 1.2 version is much improved. Now this would be a useful tool. I could also suggest putting a button in each row or column that, when clicked, would play the row instead of hitting "command + L" and inputing "P1", etc. It might be nice to be able to modify the Quicktime instrument used for playback as well. Being able to export rows as a midi file would be useful. Keep up the good work!
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. It's an interesting idea that is bound in a straitjacket. One can not repeat pitches and it does not seem to like input as letter names -- only number intervals. One might use smaller sets than 12 pitches as well but not within this app. Frankly I could get Excel to do a better job than this app. It needs some flexibility before it could become useful as a composition tool.
