"Just keeps getting better."

July 24, 2009  |  By JHardy

 |  Version: MathMagic Personal Edition 6.4

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It seems like I'm the only one that writes positive comments for this product but I really like it. Between it and ChemDraw, all of my publications and Keynote presentations have seen significant improvement. Working in the field of Chemometrics, I need clear equation presentation for my students. MathMagic meets the bill.

"Better and better"

May 28, 2009  |  By JHardy

 |  Version: MathMagic Personal Edition 6.1.4

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This product continues to mature and improve. With MS Word having a poor equation editor which is not compatible with the Windows version and iWork having little in the way of equation support, MathMagic is a must. It's significantly improved my course presentations and research publications. Well worth the cost.

You can't fault the service of the MathMagic folks. Yesterday a couple of us note a problem with v5.4. Today, we have a fix, including personal email notification.

"Not Bad, but not MathType either..."

August 05, 2005  |  By Mac Pilot

 |  Version: MathMagic Personal Edition 5.1

Summary

Not bad for a shareware product, but I'm much happier with MathType. The interface is king of "gadgety" and the program doesn't inteface as well with MS Word. MathType let's you re-number all your equations in Word and run some other really useful scripts -- nothing like that in this program. Also, it has no support at all for MathML. Today, you have to think about how you're going to put your content on the web. MathType is just a better complete packge (IMHO).

"Great product."

Summary

I've been using this product to create high quality equations in presentations and publications for a couple of years. I've always found it to do the job just fine - be it the Ideal Gas equation or an eigenvector rotation.

"good work - better than MathType"

March 23, 2005  |  By rinn1.shin

 |  Version: MathMagic Personal Edition 5.02

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I think I've heard about MathMagic a few years ago but tried it recently for a few months.
Much of interface and feature was similiar to MathType and easy to use. But MathMagic has better interface and more controls on equation shapes that generate better equation quailty.
It worked well with Nisus and AppleWorks in both directions of drag&drop.
It would be great for me in total if long promised MathML is supported.
OpenType font set is also expected asap.
Hope you guys compete with MathType. Competition is always good for both users and developers.

"great equation editor for the rest of us."

February 16, 2005  |  By Jamie here

 |  Version: MathMagic Personal Edition 5.01

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
While I am using the MathMagic Pro in our office for tech book publshing, I use this Personal edition on my iBook and iMac at home.
Now I am a big fan of MathMagic. Great interface and various options to adjust and customize equations. Though its TeX import is not perfect in the real world situation, writing equations is so fast via some shortcut keys and palettes.
a few area that I want MathMagic to be improved:
- It uses too many symbols fonts. After default installation, there are more than 10 symbol fonts added and it eats SOME portion of font menu. But good to have lots of symbols.
- Better support for TeX import/export for LaTeX.
- Support MathType files in both directions(Open/Save as) since we still receive Mathtype equations from our clients.
- another math font sets.

Overall, this is great. If you are dealing with equations, it is worth trying the free trial.
