"Long time user and this new version is great!"

    May 16, 2012  |   By RUupTOit

    Version: ManyCam Virtual Webcam 3.0.68

    Pros

This program has made web camming a better experience. This program lets you force Higher Definition from your camera, You can play a video from your hard drive for those viewing your cam and type text messages that are scrolled over your image. You can record videos through your web cam and upload to YouTube which are very good quality. You can also take snapshots

The picture in picture feature lets you place up to 4 different images on the screen at once. For example ... Your web cam in one window, A video from your hard drive in another, a still photo in another and a second web cam that captures you from a different angle in the last.

    Cons

These are not cons really, its just that i don't use the special effects and can't comment on those

    Summary

I highly recommend ManyCam, It delivers everything promised.

"works good, bit too complex, lots of affects gone"

    May 7, 2012  |   By Bigbrfother38WimK

    Version: ManyCam Virtual Webcam 3.0.68

    Pros

    Works good, no errors

    Cons

Lots of effects from the past have disappeared on the site,
I am missing the huge database of objects and effects in the past.
Beside contrary to the past more attention should be directed
to creating an 18+ naughty/sexy/sex effects and objects database.
I even think there is an commercial market for that.
I hope an bigger user database entails from this again.
It is a shame that objects and effectmost of the times do NOT adjust to webcam picture format

    Summary

Good product and as soon as I have the money I will buy it, but I insist that you will keep develloping effects and objects to make again more fun in the future

"Once upon a time it was great."

    May 2, 2012  |   By eezee_cnet

    Version: ManyCam Virtual Webcam 3.0.68

    Pros

Looked nice. New video and audio features.

    Cons

Has become nagware. Pro, pro, pro.
    No thanks, bro.

    Summary

It's a shame to see a nice and friendly program go to waste.

I can recognize the work that has been put into the all new functions and I can understand why they did it the way they did. But, understanding that doesn't mean I'll be using it.

From a nice little free program it has become a behemoth of nagware. All the new cool fun stuff went into 'pro', and some former free functions went out the window (get 'pro' to get them back again, of course). These tactics are not something I get excited about anymore, it's more like 'meh...'. I've travelled this path many times before on other programs and it never ended well.

I wish the manycam team all the best, but from here our paths will go different ways. I'll be using the older version untill it becomes abandonware. Thanks for all the fish.

    "Program is too bulky"

    April 22, 2012  |   By ButterflyDragon

    Version: ManyCam Virtual Webcam 3.0.68

    Pros

It does what I want it to.

    Cons

Too many bells and whistle for me.

    Summary

I'm a fan of small, lightweight software that just does the job without extraneous fluff bloating CUP usage. I'd have preferred to stay with the older version of ManyCam.

    "'Dirty' install process."

    February 22, 2012  |   By SoftwareJockey

    Version: ManyCam Virtual Webcam 2.6.65

    Pros

    - It uninstalls fairly easily and doesn't leave much in the Registry to manually remove.
    - Scanned negatively by ZoneAlarm for viruses and trojans.
    - Was free.

    Cons

    - Tries to install Ask.com toolbar (where the funding comes from maybe).
    - Made a variety of attempts to access restricted areas of Windows. ZoneAlarm went nuts.
    - Wanted to modify various files in the Windows directory.
    - Needed a reboot of the PC to complete the installation.

    Summary

This may well be a hugely enjoyable application if you are happy to ignore suspicious behaviour warnings and give the installer carte blanche to do what it likes, and change what it likes. I do not. I install many utilities on a frequent basis and the quality of programming often shows at this stage.

Neat, compact and self-contained applications do not cause applications like ZoneAlarm to have kittens.

Note that I am *not* suggesting that this is malware of any kind. I am satisfied that is not the case. What I am saying is that the install process gave me no confidence whatsoever and raised far too many behaviour warnings. There is just no need for it.

Applications may be written that rely on an installed framework such as .Net or need a recent version of the Oracle JVM if written in Java. They should *not* busy themselves making all sorts of changes to the O/S directory files, no matter how benign.

So if you are happy to let an otherwise harmless and fun application mess with your operating system then ignore the installation warnings and fire away. Otherwise look elsewhere for a cleaner and more compact solution. Or write your own. ;-)
