MailWasher Pro 2012 allows you to preview multiple accounts and all aspects of your e-mail on the server before you download it to your computer, thus protecting you from spam, viruses, phishing attacks, and other nuisances. The program also learns what kind of e-mail you want to receive and adapts to your preferences. You can then delete unwanted e-mail before it gets to your PC. Also featured are comprehensive spam tool including white and blacklists, customizable filters and use of public blacklists to identify spammers in an easy to use package.

"Never Trust Firetrust"

Pros
Old version works good, visually appealing, and honored lifetime license, for a while...
Cons
The company reneged on their lifetime license they sold to thousands of customers, then claimed the program was re-written but failed to make a substantial name change (added "2011" to the end of the "Mailwasher Pro" name), now they rent the program to you. the "new" version is much less visually appealing that the "old" version.
Summary
I don't care how well the new version might work (I tried it and was not impressed) I'll just never spend another dime on any product Firetrust produces. I've tried to reason with the owner, but he is unreasonable, and dishonorable. They get an "abysmal" rating mostly for their poor customer service and greedy pricing practices.

"Good for mail cleanup but you can't buy it, you rent it"

Pros
Good for cleaning mail before downloading mail into your mail program.
Cons
They claim you're buying it when you pay for it, but in a year, they'll disable it until you "buy" it again. That's not a purchase, that's a rental.
Also the older versions were cleaner in appearance, sharper and easier to set up the functions for personal preferences and appearance. The newer versions aren't as sharp in appearance.Summary
I like it but I prefer the older version when buying the program meant actually buying it, and the appearance was sharper and finding the settings section for personal preferences wasn't so hard.
It works good with Outlook 2003. -

1. Ability to add blacklist databases (including Barracudas FREE "Reputation Block List" (BRBL) it works!. 2. Comes with Spamcop and Spamhaus blacklist server addresses pre-installed. 3. Ability to report SPAM through Spamcop and the FTC directly from the program. 4. Program tells you which blacklist server triggered the SPAM email. 5. Low misidentification of non-SPAM email using default trigger settings. 6. Better ID of junk mail than using Outlook junk mail. 7. Ability to select auto delete for ID'd SPAM which is sent to a "Recycle Bin" so that you can still restore it. 8. Compatibility with Outlook; it downloads your contacts list and adds it to your "friends list"
Cons
1. It doesn't seem to offer the ability to report SPAM for items that have been sent to the recycle bin (such as auto deleted); only items in the "Inbox" have the reporting feature visible (maybe I am missing something). 2. I found a small bug in the "Spam Origin" module; it dropped a server. 3. No integration with Outlook (add in), you must run the program prior to opening Outlook. My Cloudmark has integration but it isn't really worth much at all. 4. It requires user interaction and isn't an install and forget it program, but I am good with that. I just wanted something that catches SPAM well without identifying much of the good email.
Summary
I received a free license through a Bits du Jour offer and set the program up. I have been using the PAID version of Cloudmark Desktop One for over a year and it was STILL allowing SPAM (some containing malware) through to Outlook where my KAV would catch the malware and Outlooks junk mail filter would catch obvious SPAM. Despite marking emails from several normal senders as OK multiple times, it continued to place them in "quarantine"....I finally gave up. I have had an established email address for over ten years so the spammers have picked up on it and I receive a pretty fair amount. I had a paid SPAMCOP email account and it did identify almost all of the SPAM but you still need to go to the website and sort through, then report identified emails. The cool thing that I was able to do with this was to add the Barracuda BRBL server to the program for absolutely no cost and it is by far identifying most of the SPAM. Businesses pay good money for Barracuda services. I didn't know whether it would actually work with this program but it does.
I can definitely say that I have more than received my money's worth but after my experience with the Cloudmark software which I actually did pay for, I would and likely will end up paying for this program at some point in the future. Hope this helps. -

Slow & bothersome to set up. It should be more intuitive & "Pull" the required data from the e=mail client

It allows you to check your mail while it is still on your ISPs mail server.
Cons
The bounce feature is a marketing gimmick. Spammers either hi-jack some unsuspecting user's account and send from there, or send it from an un-monitored account. In either case, bouncing their mail back to them does nothing.
Summary
I purchased the PRO 2012 version. After reformatting my HDD, I reinstalled Mailwasher Pro, but it crashed saying I had installed it too many times.
Sure, you can send them an email and within 24-48 hours they will (hopefully) reset your installations--but honest people should not be inconvenienced, or treated as suspected pirates, just to protect them!
Stick with the free version. Or, change to Gmail--it has superb spam filtering built in. -

Pros
This totally rewritten program does its work as advertized. The Bayesian learning automagically builds an unique personal filter, based on the users decisions during an initial "learning period". Recognizes forged E-mail addresses, has built- in spamreporting facilities. Will work out-of-the box but can be finetuned to fit even the most critical user's needs. Both the program and the helpfile come in many languages.
Cons
A bit heavy on the system. Owners of a less powerful computer will probably be better off with its predecessor, MailWasher|Pro 6.5. The new version is subscriptionware, it'll stop working if one chooses not to renew after the subscription period; a policy I do not like one bit. TIP: Googling on "digital river mailwasher pro lifetime" however, will still show the option to buy a lifetime license..
Summary
The true ultimate solution in spamfighting; this one really deserves the title "primus interparis" (the best under its equals). One big Boo for the subscription model but e little bit of Googling will help overcome that.. ;-)

MailWasher is a good product. It works as advertised and catches most spam.
Cons
The Pro version is not worth $20 a year when so many others offer the same functionality for free.

Shop around for a package that fits your email client.

Easy to install and great for checking spam emails before they reach your favorite email program.
Cons
You have to buy the program and pay a yearly fee to download new versions but worth it. The Hotmail setup is tricky but there are instructions on the web site on how to config it to work correctly.
This version is easier to read and work with than the former version.
