    "Simple, clean, and effective"

    August 29, 2012  |   By rbdancer

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.3.5

    Pros

As someone else said, "works like it should." Makes filing emails so much faster and easier. Makes navigating your mailboxes, especially if you have a lot of them, much more friendly.

    Cons

Apple updates Mail so frequently, to patch security flaws I assume, that the plugin needs frequent updates as well. This time around I had to search to discover the updated version, as there seems to be no automatic update option. Small price to pay for the convenience, though.

    Summary

If you use Mail as your everyday email reader, this little plugin will pay for the time you take to download and install it many times over.

Oh, I see I was the one who said "works like it should." Hee. Well, I still think so.

    "Works just like it should."

    February 19, 2012  |   By rbdancer

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.3.4

    Pros

Simple, lightning-fast to install, and quickly updated when Mail gets updated and leaves it behind. Shortens the time needed to wade through folders by a large amount. And it's free!

    Cons

Can't think of any drawbacks after using it for a couple of months.

    Summary

If you are even thinking about installing this useful add-on, don't wait, just do it.

    "Works as Promised"

    October 22, 2011  |   By rbdancer

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.3.3

    Pros

No-brainer to install and use. Provides functionality Apple doesn't.

    Cons

Initial warning to back up all Mail files a little disconcerting.

    Summary

Great little app that saves me a lot of time navigating through my many mailboxes. I switched from Entourage recently so I could upgrade to Lion on my Mac, and for the most part I think Mail works better. The Mail / Address Book / iCal interface is now as smooth as Entourage ever was, and I think I like having them stand alone better.

I also like that I received an update very shortly after doing a major system update in Lion, minimizing any potential conflicts with the add-on.

My preferred input device is a Kensington trackball, with the buttons programmed for many shortcuts. They all work just fine with the app, so it is really quick now to put mail away into folders or toss it without having to use the keyboard. I give it five stars for doing everything it promises, and doing it well and with elegance.

    "Only works with Lion"

    October 2, 2011  |   By PastorJim

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.3.2

    Pros

    Sounds useful.

    Cons

Could not use with Snow Leopard.

    Summary

    Could not try.

    Updated on Oct 4, 2011

I see that the developer's site offers versions for previous Mail and OS X iterations. Apologies for jumping to conclusions! I will change the star-rating once I have seen the software functioning.

    Updated on Oct 8, 2011

MailRecent works as advertised and is a great enhancement! Thanks! If I knew how, I'd change the rating to 5 stars!

    "Works for me"

    November 26, 2007  |   By nowin

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Man oh man, I've been wanting this feature for a long time. Installed it, and seems OK here (almost a week now). Makes moving mail much easier for me.

OSX 10.4.11, intel iMac, and OSX 10.4.10 G4 Powerbook.

I do note the developer has 2 versions available: one for Tiger, and one for Leopard. I can only speak for using it on my Tiger systems.

    "instantly useful"

    February 1, 2007  |   By sjk

    Version: MailRecent Mail Plugin 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This plugin has already made it easier to work with "too many" mailboxes in combination with Mail Act-On, much like described in the Background section on the developer site. Thanks, Greg!

One improvement would be to include the extended name for a duplicate mailbox in the menu even when only a single instance of it occurs. It's easy to forget exactly which duplicate mailbox a single instance is, especially between Mail sessions.

I'd also like a way to optionally invoke "Copy/Move to Recent" followed by "Go to Recent" for the specified mailbox.

And I can imagine how a certain merging of this with the MsgFiler plugin might improve mouseless operation.
