"The BEST app"
Version: Mail.appetizer 1.3b1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
First off, I want to thank the developer for porting this to Leopard.
I've used this app for a couple of years, and after moving to Leopard I discovered how important it was in my daily life.
I'm a consultant/contractor/developer, and the timeliness of email is REALLY important to my business. When I lost the use of this app, I would have to check my Mail folders frequently to see if there were important items for me to read and/or reply to. This would really break up my workflow, and I didn't always remember to check mail often enough. Sometimes I get email that requires a response ASAP, and I would not always have the knowledge to do so in time. This would mean the correspondence would then be pushed over to the following work day.
Mail.appetizer takes care of notifying me of the important emails and not the casual stuff. I can see it as it comes in and quickly decide on the action I need to take if any. -

I was going into withdrawals for lack of this wonderful little app that does the best job of informing you when mail arrives. There is NO better means of screening, deleting, or viewing new mail than Mail.appetizer. -

"Indispensible for power users"

I use multiple desktops (CodeTek Virtual Desktop, two thumbs up), so I can't always see my mail program. Ah, yes, I hide my dock (TinkerTool also rules), so I don't see annoying bounces.
And I want to be notified of only certain emails, for instance co-workers, but not mailing lists and such.
Mail Appetizer is the perfect solution. No matter what desktop I'm on, I see any incoming potentially important mail. If it's not so important, it takes me a second to click away the float or even to delete the message, and I can just go on working without having to switching desktops and programs.
Apart from one reinstall because of corrupted preferences, this utility has worked perfectly for me. The developer was helpful when I had that one time problem. Heartily recommended! -
"OS 10.4 rejects the bundle!"
Version: Mail.appetizer 1.0
Pros
No comments, as it doesn't run under OS 10.4.8
Cons
As above

"If you use Mail.app this is a must have plugin!"

Trust me, try this plugin for mail.app for a few days and you'll love it. At first I thought it was a pointless feature to have new messages pop up on your screen in a little window, but after using it for a little while it really became useful. No need to open up mail to check for your new mail. This is great for annoying emails that you don't want to waste time on because with just one glance you'll see it and with one simple click of the mouse it's out of your way. The new beta features are kick-ass... almost everything is now customizable and it's compatible with tiger! I donated 5EURO to the developer because this is worth paying for and I want to support continued development. Sweet peice of work. -
