"The game for all MahJong fans"

February 21, 2010  |  By tomar82403

 |  Version: MahJong Suite 2009 6.1

Pros

Fast setup and easy first time play. Multiple game options, tile and background options. Tiles are large enough to see without my glasses! Really good value for cost.

Cons

Needs a interactive tutorial for first timers. no game and time pause (boss mode)...

Summary

Rock solid value - you won't be disappointed.

"A good solid and enjoyable Mahjong Suite"

December 21, 2009  |  By PotionMaster

 |  Version: MahJong Suite 2009 6.1

Pros

This game has a nice choice of tiles, especially if more free tiles are downloaded, and a great variety of board layouts.

Cons

It has dubious compatibility with Windows 98se and causes strange problems, such as crashes of other programs after this program has been run. The items on the menu bar do not allow you to run the program properly and require setting up.

Summary

A nice program that needs some polish to make it more user-friendly and to stop it doing strange things to Windows 98se.

"WARNING! $18.95 Paid Verison EXPIRES after One Year!"

November 22, 2009  |  By EltonNoway

 |  Version: MahJong Suite 2009 6.1

Pros

Nice graphics
Multiple tile selections and backgrounds
Tons of gameboard layouts
automatic email notifications when a new set of tiles or backgrounds are available for download

Cons

Inability to tilt viewing angle or rotate game board like in some free versions
Several free versions of Majhong on this site that are just as good from a gameplay standpoint.
Updates to new tiles and or gameboards lockout after one year

Summary

I purchased this particular version of the popular Mahjong game based on all the glowing reviews. Once purchased you will receive periodic emails informing you of game updates. These updates include minor bug fixes, new game tile designs and/or board game layouts. These updates are available to you as a customer for free downloading. The downloads were easy to access and install and it was always fun to see any new tile designs. HOWEVER... exactly one year after I purchased the game I received an email saying my subscription had expired!! ***! I purchased this game "as a game"... not as a 12 month subscription! Granted I can still play the game but any all future bug fixes, updates or enhancements (like patches needed for a Microsoft OS upgrade) all stopped. I was informed if I would like to keep receiving the updates I had to pay another $18.95 for another 12months. (Imagine if you purchased a piece of computer hardware and finding out you needed to pay a yearly subscription if you wanted to continue downloading driver updates or bug fixes.) I can appreciate a company enhancing game play from year to year and the need for them to keep the game fresh and competitive, as well as be compensated for their work effort... however, what TreeCardGames should have implemented was a "reduced" rate (a special lower "renewal fee") for their established customer base! In others words, only new customers pay $18.95 to buy the initial version of the game then every year after that give them (their established customers) an opportunity to $6.95 or some other lesser amount to continue getting any new game updates.

Paying a subscription fee every year to renew an application for an antivirus or malware program is painful but is a necessary evil (something like an insurance policy to ensure your PC remains protected) However when you consider there are plenty of free games on the internet for downloading and several good free version of Mahjong, its near impossible to justify paying $18.95 every year for enhancements.

"Did not seem worth paying for from the trial version."

November 15, 2009  |  By fredcone3

 |  Version: MahJong Suite 2009 6.1

Pros

The one shuffle it let you try was very easy to win.

Cons

More monochrome tile sets than colored? Seriously?
There were 2 sets of 4 tiles that matched tiles with number and picture different, but both sets looked like flowers, not seasons). I never did understand which were seasons and which were flowers.

Summary

I did not like that once a tile was selected you had to click on that tile to unselect it, not just on the background as is possible with other MahJongg Shanghai solitaire versions I have played.

"Outstanding"

November 05, 2009  |  By Shirley_Cockerham

 |  Version: MahJong Suite 2009 6.1

Pros

makes you use your mind

Cons

Wished it had an easy, medium and hard selection that you could just click on.

Summary

Using the product is so easy....but I wished that it had some of the features like Deluxe Mah Jong II does. Playing it though does remind me of playing 123 Solitare and is basically the same format.
But I do like the product.
