With more than 50 mah-jongg and Concentration-style layouts, the attractive and addictive MahJong Suite 2006 is a bonanza for tile-game lovers. The convenient game browser organizes layouts by difficulty, number of levels, and several other factors. If you like, the game will choose a random layout for you.

The demo doesn't allow reshuffling, but the sheer number of included games will keep most players busy for the 30-day trial. If you do finish them, the built-in editor lets you quickly design more. The game's graphics--especially its three gorgeous sets of tiles--are quite good. You can configure the backgrounds and sounds, though you can't add your own, and the included ones are lackluster.

Advanced players will appreciate the statistical features, while beginners can quickly learn more by following the AI's advice. In sum, MahJong Suite 2006 is a superb choice for mah-jongg solitaire fans.

In MahJong Suite 2008, you play mah-jongg-type solitaire games with classical mah-jongg tile sets and millions of possible combinations. You also can play matching-type games with funny tile sets. Create an unlimited number of players so you can challenge your friends to beat one another's high-score, games-won, and score statistics. The built-in layout editor lets you change the layout of any game or create your own. You can customize the tile type, background, animation, sound, pointers, levels of undo or redo, and the toolbar. You also can select from various predefined tile sets and dozens of backgrounds.

Version 2008 has a new toolbar with larger buttons. Now you can add a picture for a player: boy, girl, man, woman... The Open a game dialog box has been redesigned and can be now resized by the user. Version 5.0 includes 5 new layouts: Candy, Coffee Cup, Honeycomb, Magician's Hat, Turtle and 2 new tile set: Amazing Places and Cats.
