With more than 50 mah-jongg and Concentration-style layouts, the attractive and addictive MahJong Suite 2006 is a bonanza for tile-game lovers. The convenient game browser organizes layouts by difficulty, number of levels, and several other factors. If you like, the game will choose a random layout for you. The demo doesn't allow reshuffling, but the sheer number of included games will keep most players busy for the 30-day trial. If you do finish them, the built-in editor lets you quickly design more. The game's graphics--especially its three gorgeous sets of tiles--are quite good. You can configure the backgrounds and sounds, though you can't add your own, and the included ones are lackluster. Advanced players will appreciate the statistical features, while beginners can quickly learn more by following the AI's advice. In sum, MahJong Suite 2006 is a superb choice for mah-jongg solitaire fans.Publisher's description
From TreeCardGames :In MahJong Suite 2006, you play mah-jongg-type solitaire games with classical mah-jongg tile sets and millions of possible combinations. You also can play matching-type games with funny tile sets. Create an unlimited number of players so you can challenge your friends to beat one another's high-score, games-won, and score statistics. The built-in layout editor lets you change the layout of any game or create your own. You can customize the tile type, background, animation, sound, pointers, levels of undo or redo, and the toolbar. You also can select from various predefined tile sets and dozens of backgrounds.
Version 3.5 adds two new layouts: Anchor and Axe Head.

"Solid game, room for improvement"
Pros: The trial is period is long and may account for the high number of downloads. The backgrounds are fairly plain, compared to some games that have elaborate oriental motifs. I expected more, but found playing on them was non-distracting.
There are three styles of tiles in the demo with another three available by request. I haven't seen the add-in's yet. The demo tiles are adequate, but again not stylish. Most games have more.
I like the ability to store a comment on each layout. Don't know if I'll use it.
A legend tab shows the points for each tile and explains names. There is also explanations given in the help. Most of the mahjong games I've played assume players know this. I appreciated the information.
Cons: Support seems non-existent so far. I purchased the game 5 days ago and haven't received the activation code, despite repeated attempts to contact by email and on the website. I buy a lot of software on-line and have never experienced such poor service. It is a holiday season, but this is still poor.
Some mahjong games have a active user base that creates and distributes additional layouts for downloading. I didn't see support for that on the developer's site.
I would like to have options to change the color and lighting effects of the tiles. There is a shadow, but on some layouts I have trouble seeing what levels the tiles are on.
