"Program has promise but has bugs"
Version: Samplitude Music Studio 2014
Better looking interface than Reaper. Slightly easier to navigate. Has the ability to use audio and MIDI at the same time You can play and monitor the effects while playing.
If you have to delete the program due to corrupted files, you have to use their uninstaller, and MAGIX cleaner. If the uninstall is corrupted, tech support will run you in circles and you will never be able to re install the program, even if you paid for it. You probably would have to wipe your computer and re install all programs all over, to get another install. The VST loader lacks any controls. If you load a VST and the program cannot use it, it locks program and only task master will bring it down. Good luck deleting the bad VST file. Programmers just will not listen and fix this problem. There needs to be a way, like in Reaper where you can load several VST instruments and play them at the same time off one keyboard. Program has nice features, but they just quit listening to users and fix things to make the program better.
You take your chances, as the program just might fit your needs. The trial at least gives you time to see if it will work. It fit 98% of my needs for now..but when the un install to do a clean re install corrupted, it will cost me a new hard drive and lots of lost time, maybe some programs and data. One trick I did learn, you can use Re Wire to pull in Reaper and use all the neat stuff that Reaper will use and Samplitude will not use and just hang up. Just would be better to have the Samplitude work on its own. Maybe if enough of us shame the programmers into listening to the upgrade wishes, the program might climb to the top. Right now, it has some serious bugs and a nasty learning curve to attack. not looking forward to wiping and reloading my computer, but I am not wasting the money I spent for the key.
