Version: MagicDisc 2.5.79
"crappy"
Cons: well, 3 times i installed it, and 3 times it messed up my computer. i gave it more than a fair chance. when i finish installing it, windows detects what it believes to be new hardware, and mounts it. magicdisk puts its icon in the system tray, and everything appears to be going ok. until you try to do anything. your computer is nearly frozen. explorer is frozen and the first time i installed it i was able to close explorer from the task manager and then start it up again, and was then at least able to access the desktop. this didnt work the second time. the start menu refused to work both times. attempting to restart the computer through the task manager (which stopped responding shortly into the second time) the first time did not work, and windows refused to shut down. after manually powering down and rebooting, you get the windows xp load screen, and then the "windows is starting up" screen, where it stays. i left it going for about 10 minutes when normally it takes literally 2 seconds to load, and still it stayed there. F8 to the rescue, and i booted windows to the last normal working settings. i had installed quite a few apps since the last boot, and there were a few that finished doing what they were doing around the same time magicdisk finished installing, so i figured it was just normal error, so i tried again, only it was worse. with a plan this time, i booted to the last working settings, installed it, manually rebooted ,and ran windows in safemode. it booted normal, and i ran magicdisc and it worked fine, so i ran quickstart, an app to configure what programs load at startup, and deleted magicdisc from the list. windows then booted normally. i tried using the program without it booting on startup, but it told me that it couldnt put an icon in the system tray, and then explorer froze again. basically, im sure there is some way to make this program work, but it simply isnt worth it. just install microsoft virtual machine and install your windows os on that, and use its virtual cd app. it works fine.
