This application is a nice alternative to sticking notes all over your workstation, and it offers more flexibility. One click on the Magic Notes' system-tray icon instantly creates a virtual sticky note on your desktop that automatically resizes to hold note contents. There are options to change text and background color, insert time and date, and set transparency. Notes can be password-protected, and you can print, save to a text file, e-mail, or send them over a LAN. Our only quibble is notes are not really sticky. To display them you have to either pin them on top of other apps or click the program's icon. A generous 45-day trial is offered in the demo version. Magic Notes has one of the richest feature sets in its category, and it's easy enough for anyone to use.

Version 3.5 Build 9171 improves the 'attach to window' code to work better with Opera and MSN Messenger and the number of notes in the taskbar menu is now configurable from the Preference dialog.
