Magic Notes

Publisher's Description

From Eskil Software:

Write down ideas, to do lists or anything you can think of regardless of what application you're running with this easy to use and feature rich sticky note application. Remind yourself of important events with the handy alarm functionality or use it to write shopping lists, to do lists or whatever takes your fancy. Comes with a very slick and easy to use interface that looks almost identical to a real sticky note but with that special computer touch. The program even resizes the note as you type and has a special option to show only the title of the note when you don't need to see the whole text. Some of the new features in V4.0 are; o Now uses SQLite for it's database to allow for a lot more notes and lots of improvements to how things work. o Fully UNICODE compliant. o New attach to window feature allowing you to attach a note to another applications window based on the window title. The note will then show and hide as the other window does the same. o Notes can now be easily docked to other notes by way of moving it close to the other note and it will automatically line up. o New daily backup function which will backup your database automatically in a subfolder. o Fully Vista and Windows 7 compliant.

What's new in this version: Version 4.0 Build 12041 has new look notes with shadows, full text indexed search including a new Quick Search window which makes it easy to find notes and display them, and includes rich edit editing in notes.

    "Its good for the price"

    March 7, 2007  |   By vytapod

    Version: Magic Notes 3.4

    Pros

The program is very solid, does its job well. I recommend it more than CuteReminder which does have a prettier interface and some fancier features, but it does the job same. However this one doesnt have a nag screen like CuteReminder.

    Cons

You cant edit the text in the title, which is probably the teeny tiny size of pt 8 or 9. When you change the properties of the text it affects all the text in your note.

"Great value and a great tool. My staff like it too"

    September 26, 2006  |   By bos snake

    Version: Magic Notes 3.4

    Pros

Came across this program by accident a few months ago. Wish I'd seen it earlier. I run a small import business and find this a great tool that does what it says. All my staff use the program too and it even helped me out when I nearly forgot to deliver one of my client's orders. I agree with shs531's summary that it doesnt have feature overkill. It doesnt need to. I've seen programs that have gimmicky features eg, creating scrunched up post-it notes they may look fun but aren't reminders meant to be eeasy to read? M N is great value too. Now, I must get back to work, have orders to do :-)

    Cons

Nothing really. However, ability to bold individual text would be good.

    "Awesome"

    September 25, 2006  |   By mender_bender

    Version: Magic Notes 3.4

    Pros

I like it a lot. Downloaded it, installed it and it just worked, way cool. It also makes the notes really small which I like and changes size as you type. It also works properly with my multimonitor setup which a lot of other software don't.

"Great utility that doesn't suffer from feature overkill"

    May 1, 2006  |   By shs531

    Version: Magic Notes 3.4

    Pros

This is such a handy little program. Even though I have a PIM, I like using Magic Notes to store reminders for lots of little items, things that I don't want to clutter up my PIM Calendar with. It's also very handy to be able to shoot a quick note to another PC on the LAN. The new Groups functionality is very useful too.

    Cons

I wish the program made it a little easier to move the storage location of the notes - I try to keep all of my data stored in one location for backup purposes.

    "Lost My Data"

    April 5, 2006  |   By wolf_lone

    Version: Magic Notes 3.4

    Pros

    Easy To use

    Cons

Looses data if it crashes & It does crashes a lot.

Also If your power goes off then your notes go boom. Every note is automatically erased. This has happened twice to me & I am so frustrated loosing all my important data. Kernael is unstable & there is some problem which kills your notes.

"A Good, Reliable Sticky Note Program"

    September 3, 2003  |

    Version: Magic Notes 3.3

    Summary

I've purchased a few sticky note programs over the last couple of years (and tried out several). For me, reminder notes are a necessity, not a luxury (my memory isn't what it used to be). Magic Notes is a very stable, reliable, and full-funtioning sticky note program. The trial version isn't riddled with nag screens (like many other sticky note trial programs are). In fact, I don't remember seeing one nag screen while using the trial. The registration price was very reasonable ($15), and when I wrote to the sales department, they even pointed out a special they were running on the program (for $12, instead of $15), and sent me the link for it. This program runs well on both Windows 98 and XP (although with Win XP the notes can have transparency). I consider this program to be an excellent value for the money, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
