"Appalling software from an amoral spam company"

    May 9, 2011  |   By croupiac

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.2.1

    Pros

    None exist.

    Cons

This company steadfastly refuses to comply with anti-spam laws and will not remove email addresses from their spam list when instructed to do so.

    Summary

Do NOT get involved with this company ever. They have no morals, and refuse to obey federal laws. As far as I can tell, their "company" address is fake and does not even exist. The software is dodgy at best, and their claims (via their weekly spam) of retrieving supposedly high-profile people's computers on a weekly basis are highly questionable. It is ridiculous that the FTC have not shut this corrupt company down ages ago, since their tactics are flat-out illegal.

    "Sounds like a bad rap..."

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.2.1

    Summary

I've used this Mac Phonehome for a few years now. I never had any problems with the product or free upgrades they supply. I had a question one time and had no problem getting an answer from their tech support. I think its a good product.

    "NOT WORKING"

    September 3, 2008  |   By MarkusWinter

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
A while back I bought 25 licenses after we had a burglary at work and my laptops were stolen. The first disaster was during the update to Leopard - my Mac would hang during booting up. Turned out MacPhoneHome was the culprit. Brigadoon was silent on the problem for an awful long time before releasing a 10.5 compatible version. I now tried to install this new version on my new MacBook Pro but all I get is a "user name or password incorrect" - which they certainly are not. I contacted tech support and am still waiting for an answer that fixes the problem (I suspect the different endianess of Intel vs PowerPC machines is the root of the problem)

    "Kernal Panics"

    October 22, 2006  |   By John McGibney

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This app causes kernal panics frequently upon waking from sleep on the 3 AlBooks we own. This started with System 10.4.8. All machines were fine with 10.4.7 and earlier.

    "DON'T BUY THIS PROGRAM!"

    August 1, 2005  |   By tabaks

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
COMPANY DOES NOT EXIST, THEY NEVER ANSWER EMAILS! IF YOU SPEND MONEY ON THIS IT'S YOUR MISTAKE. DON'T MAKE IT! THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPANY, IT'S HEADQUARTERS AND ADDRESS/PHONE NUMBERS. WHY?
However, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, this is what Google says about the domain registrar's address:

    "Very Cool Program!!"

    May 4, 2005  |   By nymachead

    Version: MacPhoneHome 3.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Version 2.15 was a nice app, but this version (just released) blows it away!

MUCH easier to install and any issues that anyone had with either email relaying or email authentication are non-existent!

All you have to put in to get your own copy of the information it sends back is a destination email address.

    BIG improvement in the documentation!!

If you own a Mac, you shouldn't leave home without it!

    At $29.95, it's a steal!

    "DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!"

    December 7, 2004  |   By ZAP-POW

    Version: MacPhoneHome 2.15.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Tech support is non-existent: email after email remains unanswered. The product does not provide a work-around for authentication, effectively rendering it USELESS. Purchasing this product will be a waste of your money.
