"Easy to use, but frustrating at times"

This is a fairly decent program. I have most of the same complaints as the last reviewer. I'm also just beginning to do genealogy. I do a large amount of my work through www.familysearch.org. The inability to import individual gedcom files is extremely frustrating. Also, not being able to export to gedcom is another huge complaint in colaborating with other people. Sure the program allows you to add multiple spouses, but in a roundabout way. You can't access this information by looking at one window. Another problem is that it is difficult to specify whether a parent is biological or not. I've started using GRAMPS which is available through the Fink project. This program is very complete and robust. Let's not forget to mention that it is FREE!!! This program is especially useful if you have a very large amount of information. It gives you the ability to export files in various formats including Personal Ancestral File which is available from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. -

There are others with more features and others for less $$, but Stefan Sicurella has put together a very nice package with an excellent price/feature balance. The interface takes a little "getting used to" but it's well worth it. I was confused at first about how to enter multiple partners for marriage/divorce/marriage situations, but figured that one out fairly quickly ("Add New"). I missed the obvious relation feature for tracking marriage/divorced attributes, but my support question was answered promptly by Stefan and I'm on the right track now.
Just sent in my $29 and will probably buy another copy for a relative on the "other side" of the family so we can collect data in parallel. -

This just keeps getting better. Minor problems occur from time to time, but they get fixed.
