"What a waste of good money..."

I'd love to give a positive review, but I have not received my serial number. I used their ridiculas activation system, and didn't get my serial number. This so called activation system doesn't give you a second or third try for that matter -- it mearly tells you that you already received your serial number. They do not return emails (ever) and there's no way of contacting them by telephone. This company is by far the worst excuse for software security -- it's kind of ironic that a security developer is commiting fraud and getting away with it. -

MacAnalysis provides a wonderful front-end for many different security tools and utilities that are scattered around the net and/or pre-installed with Mac OS X. It also adds some unique security vulnerability assessments that are really great.
The problem: this is one of the buggiest Mac apps I've ever dealt with! It crashes at the end of nearly every security scan, unfortunately right before the scan report is able to save. This makes it practically useless.
I feel ripped off, having paid the $55 for the full version. Multiple emails to the support address have gone completely unanswered.
Save your cash for something else! A good book on security and a few open source security tools will serve you much better. -

I must say the product seems solid enough but after my experience or "lack there of" with the developers I highly recommend that no one do business with these people. I spent a good deal of money on their products and yet cannot seem to get a response of any kind from the staff. Really too bad. -

While it has its limitations and lack of stability, I say without hesitation that this is one of the best purchase I have ever made. it includes everything I expect a security tool to have. I don't understand people who complain about the delay in the delivery of the serial, i've received mine in one minute.. it's an AUTOMATIC process ! -

And it's one of those rare apps that's fun to play around with. It provides a good education for the newbie user and should meet the demands of the more demanding, experienced user. This software is awesome ! -

Used MacAnalysis for a long time. It's a great tool!!
Installed the current version 2.3.2 on Panther/10.3 today. Tried to launch it, but an alert appeared: -10810 (an unknown error appeared).
Repaired disk permissions, but didn't solve this problem!!!
Does somebody else have this problem?! -

This is abandonware and has been so for many, many years. Why is this still on cnet?
Although I don't like product activation in general because you can lose precious time messing w/ activation whenever you are updating your system, etc... this dev has been great. When I upgraded to OS X, the dev expeditiously sent me new serials and I was up and running in no time. Don't get me wrong, I hate product activation in general, but this dev responds quick enough that I don't hate this product activation scheme as much as others (Quickbooks, for example... SUCKS).
Anyway, that said... MacAnalysis is a great security product (it can be used for great good... or evil). Only one thing I wish for, though... I wish some of the exploits were better explained so you can more easily determine the specifics on how to duplicate them... but, then again, that might be telling people too much, I suppose? Hahaha... (evil grin)

"Product Activation = bad"

MacAnalysis looks like an excellent product and I would have bought it but for one very important issue.
It uses Product Activation.
This means it is tied to ONE computer and cannot be moved to a different one. It is not even clear if you can reinstall on the SAME computer.
Like many companies we frequently choose to wipe and rebuild machines (e.g. to upgrade operating systems) and would then reinstall programs. Product Activation prevents this.
Like many companies we move computers between users, i.e. when a new computer is bought for a power user, their old one is wiped and passed down to a less demaning user. Product Activation prevents this.
Like many companies we occasionally have machines die, recently an iMac G4 had a faulty video chip and had to have a new logic board. The new logic board had a new serial number. Even with the same hard disk Product Activation would have prevented us using the software.
Like many people companies occasionally machines get stolen. This year we had three laptops stolen and replaced. With Product Activation we would not be able to install and use the software on the new machines.
In short product activation is the work of the devil.
While our company works hard to ensure all the software we use is legal, I as IT Manager _WILL NOT_ purchase any software or upgrade to versions of software which uses product activation for all the above problems.
So Quark Xpress 6 will not be bought (we use InDesign 2 instead), being 100% Mac based we fortunately don't have to use Windows XP or Office XP, I obviously will NOT be buying MacAnalysis (no matter how good the product maybe), and should Adobe foolishly go down the road of product activation as rumoured I will not buy any further upgrades from them (this year I upgrade Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign).
For those people who might think that in all the above cases the manufacturer would be willing to reissue an activation code I would point out that recently HUNDREDS of European Quark Xpress 6 purchasers had to wait 6 weeks or more to get their software activated. Being at the mercy of software companies like this is not acceptable. I would also point out Internet access is not always available (especially outside the USA).
