Publisher's description
From Proteron :MPecker Encoder is an audio encoder and CD audio extractor rolled into one. With it, you can encode large AIFF files (sampled at appropriate frequencies) into smaller MPEG files. The program also can encode 44.1-kHz PCM files. When recording from a CD, the encoder first copies the audio data to your hard disk. If there is not enough space available, it will encode the data bit by bit (this can, however, result in some noticeable clicks in the audio signal). You will need about 11MB of disk space for every minute of audio you want to encode. Among other features, MPecker Encoder gives you the option of encoding in three modes: mono, stereo, or joint stereo. It also allows amplification within the encoder, includes four psychoacoustic models for review and commentary, and supports CDDB queries. This release fixes bugs, includes new bit rate options, and adds CDDB server preferences. The beta version will expire on April 30, 1999.
