Version: MPS-Sudoku 2.5
"EXCELLENT! Leader of the pack!"
Pros: I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I have eight (yes: 8!) Sudoku programs on my PC. Some are free, most of them are shareware. I'm definitely hooked!
I recently downloaded MPS-Sudoku and wish I would have found it first! In my opinion, it is the leader of the pack. Several programs have the ability to customize the graphics, several provide a variety of puzzle difficulty, and several have solution tools (ranging from simple hints to elaborate methodology requiring an advanced degree in mathematics!)
However, MPS-Sudoku puts it ALL together in one great, user-friendly, fun-to-use program! The array of features and available customization is outstanding.
I've exported several of the easiest puzzles and several of the hardest into other programs that "validate" puzzles
by making sure they have only one solution and can be solved purely by logic. All the MPS-Sudoku puzzles I've tested have passed the test. Many of the puzzles are truly diabolical, but they are valid.
Cons: Better documentation explaining some of the features would be helpful.

"Best of the available choices"
Pros: I was late to the Sudoku craze. After I finally discovered the addictive logic game, I chanced upon LearnToUseComputers' MPS-Sudoku and played it for the three free days allotted by the then-current license agreement. When the time to pay up arrived, I checked the available free game versions in some detail, and then gladly paid MPS-Sodoku's modest fee. On its "Candidate Numbers" feature alone, MPS-Sudoku outranks most competitors (although misuse can be a temptation, like cheating at solitaire). Further, LearnToUseComputers' graphics are just more inviting to the addicted user than are most of the others. Pay the money; you'll be rewarded.
Cons: For new users, game instructions should be better integrated with the online help.

"Best I 've found on the internet!!"
Pros: Has everything you need to do Sudoku puzzles: will generate new ones, able to put in your own, user interface is easy, can enter "possible numbers", can save puzzles- print them - load them, can control error detection, can do branching, can control puzzle format, colors etc. The customer service people are very efficient. The program is well worth downloading and you'll be hooked.
Cons: Would be nice to 1) have a users guide and 2) if you change colors it would be nice to be able to save those colors from puzzle to puzzle.

-
Version: MPS-Sudoku 2.5
Pros: Extremely easy to use. The ability to save puzzles to a variety of formats or copy to the clipboard is a real winner. I would recommend MPS-Sudoku to anyone who is looking for value and a program that does what it is supposed to do with a minimum of fuss.
