"Ok for MP3 players and PC's, Not for Good Stereo's"
Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5
Pros
Leveled volume as it said.
Cons
Sounded very "subdued" when played on a good home stereo. Music sounded "compressed" with no depth. Thi9s program did not just lower the volume, it compressed it. Bass and percussion was especially affected.
Summary
Perhaps OK if you listed only on a PC or MP3 player but unacceptable for home stereo use.

"Has enhanced my sound system to exponential effect."
Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5
Pros
Using a 5-speaker system/ I-Tunes as my mp3 player the sound quality was merely okay but was dismal on my Sony Walkman mp3 player. but once downloading MP3Gain both my computer and Walkman play magnificently.
Cons
There's nothing not to like.
Summary
This is a product that i can't offer enough praise about. Those who love music as much as I do will really appreciate the major upgrade in the quality of sound and the enhanced pleasure it provides And the fact that it's freeware makes it a perfect application for an imperfect world.

"Not Bad for freeware"
Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5
Pros
I used this to try to normalize and increase volume for (Freecorder recordings) off of various sources. It did help my mp3 player a bit beause it is a cheap sansa c240 and does not seem to go very loud. I did here a difference and I use 100db setting to normalize my folder. I still noticed a difference between tracks, but they were much closer in volume than before. I can say for freeware it is a must have for poor people like my that just have a very basic portable mp3 player. Seemed to help level out and increase the volume. I give it 4 stars.
Cons
The reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is I noticed a slight hint of distortion (like clipping) on a few tracks but whatever free is a great price huh?

"Worked perfect"
Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5
Pros
It seemed to do exactly what it says it can do
Cons
Unless you have two songs that are so different in volume levels and do a before and after test, you can't really be sure it does anything at all, now can you?

"De-volumizer!"
Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5
Pros
Free, stable, does what it says.
Cons
I used this on a lot of my mp3s. When I created new ones I noticed they were a lot louder. Long story short, I took two mp3s and compared them. One had been altered by mp3gain. The other, not. The unaltered one was a lot louder, even though mp3gain claims they were around 92db. So I set mp3gain to 105 (max setting) and saved changes to both files. They were both low! Sure it normalizes the files but my mp3 player will only go up so high and I like it loud! Now there's no way to undo the changes I've made!
