"UNINSTALL BREAKS WINDOWS XP!!!!!"
Version: MP3 Workshop 2.2
Pros
I really can't think of a good reason to download this. I downloaded it, and when I tried to run it, it said "MP3 Workshop needs ASPI drivers to work properly, you should have installed ASPI drivers on your windows system path to use our CD Rip function! Please go to our website ... .... for more information." WHAT?!?!? How completely myopic to assume that I have used another of their programs first. How presumptuous to tell me that I should have already installed their CD Rip function! Why the hell would I buy software from a company that obviously can't think things through in a logical fashion and fragments their software in such a way? And I DO HAVE THE ASPI driver in the Windows System Path! Just not THEIR driver. After looking over their website and seeing how their program (yes, I tried both the download from CNET and the XP specific download from their website ? same issues), I can?t imagine anyone being comfortable using any of their drivers. It?s just plain bad design, bad practices, bad product.
Cons
(also see "Positive" comments). Apologies for the dramatic Summary line, but this program does remove components from Windows if you uninstall it. What a piece of 5h1t! Before you think I'm just some dumb NooB, I noticed some things going wrong after I uninstalled (Intel Active Monitor wouldn't run, every time I tried Google Maps the system requested an Office disk). I then reinstalled and tried the same things, and they worked. So I uninstalled, and they didn't. Tried several times with both versions (Windows and Windows XP). I currently have it installed because I don't know what else it broke. I F-C--N' HATE software that uninstalls shared components without asking! This company is composed of retards, IMHO.
