Version: MBRtool 2.2
Pros: u do NOT need this programm to restore the MBR.
LINUX does NOT screw your mbr - it did cost meself quite a while 2 figure out how to restore the MBR and it works something like this:
DOS MODE: mbr /d
i am NOT sure if this is the right parameter - please just serach for "linux restore MBR" or something like that - anyway u do NOT need anysuch software just to get windows running again.
regards

Version: MBRtool 2.2
Pros: informative documentation.
Cons: created a new project of having to learn how to create a boot cd. any commercial off the shelf software will create a rescue disk for you - good if you have a floppy. i have a floppy in my 386. this is why the expression "move on" is a cliche.

"excellent MBR undo tool. can undo GRUB or LILO loaders if it didn't work for you"
Pros: I liked its ease of use, and I also liked how I can now install linux without worrying about messing up my MBR and being unable to boot into windows.
Cons: You have to leave the operating system and boot in DOS prompt. (not hard for a techie, though)

"Use with care...But USE IT! A Must Have."
Pros: This program has been a life saver many times. For anyone messing with a multi-boot situation, load it, run it and save your MBR before you do anything. Saved me days if not weeks of reinstalls. Use with care...Read the Manual!
Cons: None..it does exactly what it's supposed to do...not filled with all the bells and whistles. It doesn't need them. Be careful when using. It is very powerful.

"Best Partitioning Fix-It Tool I ever had"
Pros: Lets you Diagnose and Fix a whole bunch of problems with any disk you're trying to partition or onto which you're building a Boot record / partition. Follows on from where PartitionMagic leaves off. Tells you lots of info PM does NOT show. I find it particularly useful for switching On and Off the Primary Bootable disk flag.
Cons: None really unless you aren't familiar with DOS
