Look@LAN Network Monitor

"Awesome albeit buggy"
Pros
Quickly scans any set of IPs, shows you what services are running on any one IP, graphical ping and tracert, save IP scan results as CSV, HTML, PDF, & other formats. In a pinch it can be run standalone (as long as you can read Italian XD)
Cons
Crashes like crazy (after 5 min, or instantly if it's in a bad mood). There doesn't seem to be any chance of an update. In fact, I'm surprised the website is still up (the download link at the site is broken, I'm lucky it's still available here).
Summary
This baby is a MUST HAVE if you manage a network. In spite of it's unreliability, the features and speed of this baby make it MUCH MORE than worth the headache.
FOURTY DOLLARS A YEAR?! AND ONLY USABLE ON TEN LANS?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Back in 2005, Look@LAN was a wonderful indispensable tool. However this is NOT Look @ LAN. It is the GUI of the app, but doesn't so much as ping 127.1.1.1, let alone your network. What it DOES do is say "There's a new version available!" and redirects you to the company that bought the rights to Look@LAN, doesn't give you a trial version, and wants you to pay a MONTHLY fee to use something that may not even be adequate for your needs. $4/mo or $40/yr. Now is that outrageous? Not that much. That DNS TOOLS site charges for it's service, and it's not that cheap but it's worth it. However offering a fake GUI to get people to buy it is pretty damn sleazy, especially if you're using a monthly subscription business model.
