    "Logitech product is junk"

    May 04, 2005   |   By mac girl

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Logitech's website was last updated for this product 2 years ago, which is unacceptable - and so is their non-existent technical support. You can get further advice by calling them at (702) 269-3457, on your dime of course.

This was a Christmas gift that I have yet to use.
If I'd known it was going to be so challenging to find software to run the thing, I would have returned the product immediately.

They claim it is OSX compatible but I guess that was applicable 2 years ago.

    "Unstable and buggy"

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1

    Summary

Very unreliable with Yahoo Messenger. People claim that my camera always freezes, and it seems to stop working at random. The picture quality is decent, though. When is Logitech going to release an update? I don't want to spend another $80 on a camera if this one is obsolete.

    "\"This application requires a supported camera\""

January 09, 2005   |   By no web cam

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I just got a Logitech Quickcam Messenger as a gift.

It came with Quickcam 8.0 drivers. Clearly labeled on the CD "Mac OS X". Inserted the CD, 2 folders, 1 for OS 10.1.x and the other for OS 10.2.x, I chose the latter.

After install, restarted. Opened the Quickcapture application and got the following message: "This application requires a supported camera". So I quit the program, attached the camera, and restarted the program. Same result. Tried downloading the newer driver. No. Tried trashing the app pref file. No. Tried repairing permissions. No. Tried the IOXperts driver. Said it couldn't find a supported camera. Camera shows up on the USB bus.

Here's the message from System Profiler:
    LogitechQuickCam:

    "Completely satisfied"

    November 28, 2004   |   By Sune

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm happy. I use my LogiTech Notebook Pro with my PowerBook G4 and my sister with her iBook G3 400 MHz.

With iChatCAMUsb we can get 10+ picts/sec in a video conference across the atlantic. Not bad...not bad at all!

So forget all the negative feedback. They really work fine under 10.3.x. Just *don't* turn on Face tracking etc. That can cause chaos in iChat.

    Other than that...great :)

    "Seems to work"

    November 08, 2004   |   By OxyParadox

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This driver seems to be functioning just fine for recording stills and movies (OS X 10.3.6, PBG412). However, it seems iChat AV works only with Firewire cameras, not the QuickCam® Pro 4000 which is USB. Does anyone know any workarounds to use USB cameras with iChat AV?

    "No problems w. ZOOM & 10.3.5"

    August 27, 2004   |   By Sune

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 1.0.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Hooked up a LogiTech QuickCam ZOOM today without any problems whatsoever in Mac OS X 10.3.5.

Couldn't find a way to zoom (well, didn't search hard), but who cares - it works fine otherwise. Good frame-rate, ok picture quality.

Simple Troubleshooting: Get the BTV app. if you wanna check if there is signal. Get iChatUSBCam for iChat video-conferencing.

    /S.

    "Logitech IM Companion"

    November 19, 2003   |   By Gormie

    Version: Logitech QuickCam 1.0.3

    Summary

If you don't have AOL (particularly 9.0), then you cannot use the IM Companion. No word if Logitech WILL ever develop IM Companion for non-AOL users.

What next? There's not much one can do with Logitech cams. No software included, doesn't work with iChat. Download Yahoo Messenger, that piece of .... nobody wants to use. That's about it. How this product gained Built for Mac OS X label? One star because it's not crashing my computer.
