"The Remote is VERY SLOW"
Version: Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7.6.0.8
Pros
Will easily control many devices.
Cons
Very slow slow response between key press on remote and response from device being controlled. Slower than any remote I've ever used.
Summary
Not worth the cost. At $250, one would expect this remote to perform like the free remotes that come with the devices you buy. Unless you are just a gadget freak, you will quickly get very frustrated with this remote because of how slow the responses to the key presses are.
I am running the current firmware as of 11/25/2010. -

It doesn't allow multiple configs or multiple remotes
Each iteration of configuration takes about 15 minutes.Summary
Its incredibly slow, making it very painful to use.
It demands to be constantly connected to the internet.
It crashes and restarts if you lose your internet connection momentarily.
It doesn't allow intuitive input of how your system is set up.
It doesn't allow you to save data locally.
It doesn't allow multiple configs so you can 'go back' after making a bad change to your config.
It doesn't allow your to configurew 2 different remotes; you would have to create a separate account for each remote you own.
It is very restrictive
Each iteration of configuration takes about 15 minutes.
Logitech basically lies to prospective customers about the capabillity of these remotes. Although they have the 'capacity' to control 250,000 devices, virtually all of the config has to be laboriously entered by the end user. Their database of device configurations is very sparse. So they made the software so it has full control and logging of all user configurations, so customers/users are building up the database all the time. This also means ther5e is no quality control, since what little configuration data can be downloaded from logitech is often wrong. This is often because the software only gives very limited options when answering its questions, often both choices are wrong. so invalid configuration data goes straight into the database.
Don't trust logitech. Whilst the hardware is OK, the software is evil and the vast configuration database is misleading. Prior to buying I checked and logitech claimed to already know about my exact models of tv, dvd, vcr and settop box. Yet I have had to spend hours configuring each device, teaching commands, configuring how to change AV inputs etc etc, all the stuff I was paying to get out of the box. -
"Not easily customized, designed to be simple"
Version: Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7.6.0.8
Pros
Good for people who aren't used to advanced remotes like Home Theater Master, etc.
Cons
My Harmony is junk, freezes 90+% of the time when updating (tried 3 Pcs). I'm only keeping it because Logitech has very good discrete controls in their software to use for programming my real remotes.
Summary
Good for most people if it doesn't freeze nearly every time you update the remote.

"Even replaced a damaged copy I had & is also improved"
Version: Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7.6.0.8
Pros
This handles all the commands of every remote I have even with pictures of each device.
Cons
Not really a con, but sad that it can't handle PS3 without an extra attachment. but that is PS3's fault
Summary
It's really a great remote, and this improved software clears a couple glitches.
