From logQL :LogQL: Run Select (SQL) queries directly on files. No Database, No Maintenance. logQL is a very flexible query engine that can accept files in different formats and runs SQL like queries directly on them. How it works? Normal databases store data in their own formats, which allows them to understand/find and retrieve data. logQL allows the user to define this format in a meta xml file. It can then use this to seperate/read the fields from the data files. Once the fields are read, it can run queries on this data. How is it useful? logQL queries are shorter and simpler than SQL, this makes it very easy to write progressive queries drilling deep into the data. For instance; you may start with the number of hits from google, then which pages were referred most from google, of all the visitors from google, how many of them actually bought. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
