    October 09, 2014   |   By adrina.michael

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

It provides security to data saved in both the PC as well as in the portable drives

    Cons

No con for me at least

    Summary

I am a student of PhD and working on my thesis. These days, the importance of my thesis work simply cannot be explained. I need to protect it from the world at any cost, for that I opted this software. It secures it in my portable drive and also gives protection to its back up on my PC. I am thankful to Folder Lock.

"Highly recommended for locking and hiding information"

    October 08, 2014   |   By phil346

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

Extremely easy to lock down your data with extreme reliability

    Cons

Folder Lock is nearly perfect, no cons probably

    Summary

This security software is simply excellent for locking and hiding personal files and folders. I love that all I have to do is to drag the desired file to this program and drop to make it secure. It also guides me with the strength of my password so that I always set up a strong password. This software is too useful for users like me that are not much tech savvy. It deserves five stars!

"Defective Program and ZERO Customer Support"

    October 08, 2014   |   By ccwhart

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

    Encrypts files effectively

    Cons

Encrypted email attachment feature does not work at all, and no answer to repeated requests for customer support.

    Summary

Folder Lock claims that it can be used to send encrypted email attachments. This is a lie. When a file is encrypted for the purpose of being attached to an email with Folder Lock, a zipped folder is created. And is the encrypted file in the zipped folder? NO! Absolutely NOTHING is in the zipped folder. I tested it again and again with every possible combination of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail, and it's always the same--empty. It's not even a problem involving attachments or any email system--the folder is empty when I open it on my own computer without having sent it. Maybe there's a solution, but I'll never know because New Softwares' bold promise that all support requests are answered within 24 hours is also a lie. I have sent them THREE requests for assistance over the last SEVEN days, and I have yet to receive an answer. I advise anyone who is looking for a way to send encrypted email attachments not to waste their money on Folder Lock.

"Every product like this should be a pain in the butt!"

    August 15, 2014   |   By USGrant7

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

We liked Folder-Lock! It's a great program with lots of features we like. If I put something in an encrypted folder, it's there and I can consistently access it when I need to. High level of encryption, all that. 3m+ downloads, you all are bored already, of me telling you what you already know.

    Cons

Try getting through to customer support. I had better success calling in to the White House switch board than getting someone from FL to help us. Why did I need customer support? The same reason you will. Eventually you are going to re-install your software on a clean PC. And soooo eventually you are going to have to re-use your serial number and license key. And sooo eventually you will find out that you must pay again to re-install. Cuz this company forgets you and even though there is stuff out there on recovering your license, Folder Lock is trying to suck more money out of you by requiring that you pay to restore your license key. That's if you need to use your license again to install the outdated version they sold you two weeks ago. No return phone calls. No returned e-mails. No restored license key. No pulse. Hellooooo, anyone home?

    Summary

Pay us money. ~~ Now, go away!

Editorial: Think about it this way. If you have to lay off your entire support staff, except for your cousin, just to pay for the law suit you are defending, due to some breach you never bothered to tell the customers. I wouldn't publish a working phone number either. Confidence is dwindling as we consider other products to encrypt our data.
Not that we believe the NSA hasn't a back door to it all any way. But lets just pretend that everyone in the USA is a law abiding citizen and we have a right to privacy. Lets just make believe that we live in a society where the right to privacy is rigorously defended by our law-makers and software companies.
Do I have a right to keep a nice candid of my wife from 20 years ago and view it now and then without Leny and his nerd friends peering over my shoulder?
What company now days can promise, without a MILE LONG EULA telling us its really not, that our data is safe and for our eyes only?
We are all moving to the cloud, says Bill Gates, so those who can afford true encryption can keep their private armies private and those of us who can't - must sign away our right to get someone to pick up the phone and tell us in some mystic legal mumbo jumbo, that they are now only allowing 16 characters of letters and numbers for passwords, because if they were to allow anything longer:
Then our privacy couldn't be violated by any Tom, Dick or Dirty Harry with a rainbow table or a mandate from who's ever in the White House!
We recommend you not buy Folder Lock, not because Folder Lock is a bad product. But because we must accept their word that it is. We are giving it one and a half stars because the people who support the product are acting like its a bad product.
Sorry for the rant, but we must vent when we are not happy.

    "Easiest way to secure information"

    August 05, 2014   |   By Amanda Will

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

I have found that this software is extremely easy to use. Anyone can secure his/her data without any sort of complexity

    Cons

Seems to be totally a blessing

    Summary

You just need to drag the files you intended to secure and drop to secure it from getting leaked. It is really that easy to secure information using Folder Lock. It does not let any hacker to steal information or any crook to access your records physically. It really is an effective measure for data security.

    "Corrupts your files"

    August 04, 2014   |   By BarrieDad

    Version: Folder Lock 7.3.0

    Pros

While it worked, it was easy to use

    Cons

Corrupted my files on two separate occasions. The second time I was forced to redo several hours of work. I contacted customer support both times and while the company website claims that emails will be responded to within 1 business day, I have yet to receive an email regarding either complaint. I will be seeking a refund.

    Summary

ONLY use this software if your data is not important to you. Putting it into one of these lockers might be the last time you see it!!
