    "Good Developer"

    November 22, 2003  |   By RAngol

    Version: Little Snitch 1.1rc4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
And developer is always coming up with useful and tested changes. The betas work better than most folks' golden masters. Indispensible wrong if you want to know what's going on with your Mac. Great for spyware discover and great to know why odd non-com applications sometimes think they need to connect to internet. Great assest to a slightly tweaked Apple firewall. Also avoids the hassle of downloading a variety of off site images in forums. Very useful. I hounded one company forever because their app was always "calling home." Their excuse was that it was only checking version numbers. Guess what? A few others must have bugged them because their next version had the option to check for new versions.

As usual...an excellent result from an excellent Developer. Has anyone else noticed just how much Developers are struggling with Panther? Fast Switching is a welcome addition to Little Snitch.

"MAC firewalls are really behind and 1998ich."

    November 14, 2003  |   By MrBeGnt1

    Version: Little Snitch 1.1rc3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If they add function for controlling of incoming connections and a log tool, this program could blow away any competition like Norton, Firewalk, Brickhouse...
It's really surprising Mac users accept the fact they don't have as good firewall programs as PC users.
It's a joke to compare MAC Norton with PC Norton.

"rc3 not yet supporting Fast User Switching"

    November 14, 2003  |   By muppetdog

    Version: Little Snitch 1.1rc3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
erikgil: the release notes for Little Snitch 1.1rc2 and 3 states that it does not yet support Fast User Switching. but they're working on it. i don't use FUS so i don't run into the problem, but i look forward to its support in future versions.

hacky: according to the documentation: "If you don't recognize an application named in Little Snitch's alert panel, click on the application icon to see the full file system path and the Unix process ID."

i really hate spyware, so this program has been indispensable for me. paid for it and love it.

    Version: Little Snitch 1.1rc3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
In current times, this is one of the must have apps (unless you you are happy with all kinds of info being broadcast from your Mac).
If you have never checked, you will be shocked at the number of apps that attempt unrequested contact to a web address.

"Nice Product, could be more informative"

    October 22, 2003  |   By Hacky

    Version: Little Snitch 1.1rc2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Love this product, bought it after about 5 minutes of use. For example, today when booting my computer Little Snitch alerted me that 'perl' was trying to connect to "www.filmsite.org". I said no. But it would also be nice if there was somew way of knowing how in the world was this happening. Where was the command to do this coming from? is this some sort of spyware that I need to get rid of? Is this some sort of routine thing that Apple has built into the system? I am not expert enough to understand this. Anyone else know how this happens?

I love this app! Really easy to use! Always warns me when an application wants to connect to the internet.
Can also be used to deny broadcasts to your local network from specific applications.
    I highly recommand it!!!

    "Excellent!"

    Summary

Never had a problem or slowdown with his app. But it should be well configured, and you have to know what you are doing...
You can't live without it nowadays!
Even if a few dev. have found a way to bypass it, it won't last long before they find how to secure it at obdev. (-1 star until then...)
    Continue the good work!

You should try it just to see how many apps "phone home"!

NetBarrier still miss a lot of features for this purpose and they took the idea from LittleSnitch i guess...
