    "High quality, but abandoned, software."

    May 25, 2006  |   By [H]omer

    Version: Linkman Pro 6.8.0.79

    Pros

There are certain applications that simply *scream* "High Quality", and this is one of them. Back in the dark ages, when this software was first released, it was probably the best bookmark management software available, and even today, at least in terms of product quality, it is without equal.

If you want a high quality, offline bookmark manager, with dead-link checking, comment editing, and a huge range of features too numerous to list here, in one of the most structured and intuitive interfaces of the genre, Linkman is *the* de facto application for the job.

    Cons

Unfortunately the developer seems to have abandoned the project, not releasing any code or even project status information, in over two years.

Please see forum.outertech.com for more details.

The only real outstanding problem with this software, is that it lacks the same degree of integration with Firefox, that it has with IE, but then given its age, that's not surprising.

    "cumbersome details"

    October 6, 2004  |

    Version: Linkman Pro 6.8.0.79

    Summary

Linkman has very cumbersome way of finding duplicate links, showing a pop-up message for each occurence instead of a list and only handling 2 occurences of the same link.
On the other hand, similar high-rated programs don't even HAVE a feature like that

"take charge of your favs, finally"

    April 29, 2004  |   By DrStinky

    Version: Linkman Pro 6.8.0.79

    Summary

linkman has everything you need to take charge of your IE favs--keywords, maintains the folder structure you're used to, quickly updates URLs, adding new keywords, user-defined ratings, etc. This is a really nifty program.

    "Excellent Product"

    January 24, 2004  |

    Version: Linkman Pro 6.8.0.79

    Summary

I am using this product with XP Pro+IE6, product version Linkman v 6.8.0.62. Works exceptionally well I checked edited and rearranged 670 plus URLs within 48hrs of download. Only complaint (a very minor one)is that you cannot copy using Ctl+click n drag, and text copying within between text fields cannot be done with drag n drop you must cut n paste. Overall exc3ellent and excellent value for money I sahll purchase before shareware expiry

"Untrapped faults and lack of features make this an amateurish job"

    December 31, 2003  |

    Version: Linkman Pro 6.8.0.79

    Summary

I tried to convert an HTML page of links into bookmarks usable by both MSIE and Mozilla. Unfortunately, Linkman displayed untrapped faults twice, then imported the links without their text comments. Then, grouping links under a folder was a frustrating exercise in carpal tunnel, as the mouse must be placed within a pixel. Why bother using this irritating package? Just use MSIE's or Mozilla's built-in tools.
