Version: LimeWire 5.3.6
"Faster than the last version, lacking classic features."
Pros: The downloads seem to be about 30% faster than they were. The searches, of course, are identical, and dependent on who is online at the time.
Cons: There are several key features that are missing from the classic interface. The most glaring is the ability to search a given host by clicking a button. The library cannot be used to edit tags. Controls have moved to the "advanced" pane or are gone.
Summary: I still like Limewire, but I will never like it as well as I did Limewire Classic. The new interface is a disaster, with the only redeeming feature being the increase in speed of downloads. This version was supposed to show active up and downloads on the status bar, but that doesn't seem to work. The lack of both the controls and the ease of use that was the hallmark of classic Limewire are constant sources of irritation. With the new interface, Limewire has opened the market wide for any competitor that can match their speed and provide an interface with the control and organization of the old Limewire. If it wasn't the only game in town, with the biggest network of users, I'd drop it like a hot potato.
