Version: LimeWire 4.12.8
"NIce sharing program"
Pros: Okay.... its got good music downloads and some movies which are really good.
I recommend this program though for music downloads because this has got A LOT of music files and basically all of them are mp3.
Cons: Okay... this is the con... in the zip and EXE files... THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY VIRUSES.... each one of them is basically an virus.. I truly recommend this for only music and movie downloads. Be prepared for an virus attack if you download any zip file or rar or any EXE

personaly i think putting a virus on the net to damage or cause serious harm to someones computer should be unlawful, are there any legal experts in this community?. some of the info explained was insightful i.e exec files i did not know this and being new to downloading was cuaght out like many rather innocent people just experimenting. what are rar files please and why cant limewire software sort this virus thing out before it gets to people and remove them from the community. anyone who sits up and dreams up software to do this is yes " a sick bastard " as someone said.

Limewire uses the Gnutella network. Gnutella is a decentralised network - meaning that there is NO single main server to connect to (unlike what they say at the Limewire website). When you open Limewire, it searches for supernodes to connect to. Supernodes are users who have been online in the network for long periods, and are capable of playing the role of a "server".
It is therefore concluded that all files searchable from Limewire are files shared by others on the network, and that no one (including Limewire) is responsible for whatever content that is downloaded. Therefore, it is the user's responsibility to know exactly what he/she is downloading, and that he/she is aware about the importance of an updated antivirus program.

Any file obtained by any P2P file sharing program can have viruses. That is why it is best to scan a file before opening it.
