Version: LimeWire 4.12.8
"the best (FREE) P2P for music"
Pros: this has got tons of music nearly all of them mp3 good search results quick download time.
loads of options to control your downloads/uploads.
it is totally safe if you use it wisely
Cons: there is a lot of virus when you search for programs but can be spotted easy,if you are downloading a program it is not going to be 300kb or under!! and it is obvious if you go into the porn sec they will be there as well. what i do is use peerGuardian 2 when i on limewire and havn"t got a virus since using PG2..not that i got many before lol

"I've learn a lot from the review of Goldengreeke about this program!"
Pros: I will add merely a little caution since in places I've been, this software has been banned and illegal users have apprehended. Have an extra care when using this program 'coz it can PIRATE stuffs.
For those who are afraid in downloading zip or rar files, be sure that you have the most updated antivirus and ALWAYS SCAN before opening a zip or rar files. Limewire doesn't made my computer vulnerable to attack if you know how to secure your PC.
Just a basic Firewall and an antivirus that has a resident shield will do.

Version: LimeWire 4.12.8
Pros: the worlds most popular P2P(peer to peer)sharing application, you can download billions of free files online. find musics, images, games, everyday applications, all in one giga-sized database, at lighting fast speed! no wonder so many people used it!
Cons: you should aware of the following security caution when you download something else than music: 1. only download what you need, not some pretty looking files you don't even know about 2. never download a suspicious file. that includes un-correct file name/title and attributes(you can check it on other downloading website or the internet to see if its a malicious file) 3.be extremely careful when download a exe file(it can run the program without triggered by the user), other files like zip and rar are less malicious. 4. get an antivirus software, back-up/restore app to back-up the important files on your computer regularly whenever your computer is running smooth or every few weeks or so. and do a security check on a computer, even better, an p2p security program(ex: avast antivirus has p2p shield)then scan any files you download, internal files can be scanned with some antivirus in zip/rar format, but exe file is just plain dangerous 5.in case of a virus, please clean the computer with antivirus app, or restore/recover your computer by using a back-up/restore software or the windows restore tool in windows xp to restore the system into previous state where you made changes.

""Limewire" was alyways my favorite P2P software."
Pros: There is a "Beta" version thats supposed to run on "Vista". I found it and installed it but it never connected to other users and I wasn't able to download anything like this version. I liked i"Limewire" so much, I bought the pro version. but those are the old days, at least for now. I wish they would get the "Vista" version released. But, if you are still using "XP" this P2P application can't be beat. I recommend finding an off line installer though. and as usual, always be careful with any application of this type. Never download a compressed file and never download a file under 1Mb in size. Scan everything you download before you use it!
Cons: I have had to switch to "MP3 Rocket". If you are running "Windows Vista", there is no better P2P application then that.
